The Polar H9 XS-S is a chest strap heart rate sensor: a sensor pod on a soft strap, listed as fitting a 54–66 cm chest, at £40.99. It sits seventh in our heart rate monitor guide. Polar's own copy calls it the "Gold Standard in HR tracking" and says it connects to sports and smart watches (Polar, Garmin), activity trackers, gym equipment and other Bluetooth and ANT+ devices, with apps including Polar Beat, Polar Club, Peloton and Nike+ Run Club named as options. It holds 4.1 out of 5 from 1,085 ratings.

The spec table is where the listing stops describing the thing in front of it. The H9 is a strap with no screen — the listed contents are "heart rate sensor, soft strap" and the item type is "Bluetooth - Waterproof HR Monitor with Soft Chest Strap" — yet the same table gives a Display Size of 0.96 inches. It also gives Sensor Type as PPG, the optical label the guide's other entries carry, on a product whose contents are a sensor and a soft strap. Elsewhere the size field reads XS-S against a 54–66 cm chest, and the rating breakdown on the page adds to 100 entries beside a headline figure of 1,085 ratings. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from any testing of our own.
