The SONGMICS rubber dumbbells sit at number 7 in this guide, listed at £24.99 with a 4.7-out-of-5 rating from 500 ratings. The title runs through eight weights — 5, 6, 8, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20 kg — and that is a list of what SONGMICS stocks, not what this price buys. The spec table on the same listing names the set as '2 x 5 kg', with 'Number of Items: 2', 'Unit Count: 2.0 count' and 'Item Weight: 10 kg'. Ten kilos is two 5 kg dumbbells added together, so on this listing the pair-versus-single muddle that runs through the rest of the guide does not appear: the numbers agree with each other.

Two smaller mismatches are worth knowing about. The material field in the spec table reads 'Cast Iron', while the bullet describes 'rubber-coated dumbbells with PVC coating' — the rubber and PVC are the outer coating, the cast iron is what is underneath, and the listing never states the handle's coating separately. The spec table also carries a different ASIN from the one on the product page itself, so a couple of fields may belong to a sister listing rather than to this exact set. What the listing does show clearly: 83 of the 100 ratings in the histogram are 5-star, seven are 3-star or below, and the model number is SYL050B01. Everything on this page is taken from the Amazon listing as it stands — the bullets, the spec table and the 500 ratings — and not from any testing we have carried out.

## Questions people ask

**What do you actually get for £24.99?**

The Set Name field reads '2 x 5 kg', with Number of Items: 2 and an Item Weight of 10 kg — a pair of 5 kg dumbbells. The other weights in the title (6, 8, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20 kg) are options the listing covers, and the listing does not quote a price for them.

**Are the SONGMICS dumbbells rubber or cast iron?**

Both appear in the listing. The spec table lists 'Material: Cast Iron'; the bullet describes 'rubber-coated dumbbells with PVC coating'. Read together, the cast iron is the core and the rubber and PVC are the coating.

**Will they roll away during a set?**

SONGMICS says the hexagonal shape means the dumbbells 'stay put without rolling away', and adds that the flat sides let them be used as push-up stands.

**How big is the handle on the SYL050B01?**

The bullet gives a 130 mm long handle with non-slip knurling. The spec table separately lists a handle diameter of 1.1 inches and item dimensions of 28L x 10.5W centimetres.

**How well rated are they?**

4.7 out of 5 from 500 ratings. The histogram behind that figure shows 83 of the 100 ratings at 5 stars and seven at 3 stars or below.

**Which body parts does SONGMICS list them for?**

The bullet names arms, shoulders, chest, abdomen and back, and says the set is aimed at both beginners and experienced lifters.
