The Ryobi 18V ONE+ 30cm Brushless Chainsaw is number three in this guide. It is a bare tool: the listing title reads 'Battery & Charger Excluded', so the £169.96 buys the saw itself, plus the bar and chain oil and the bar sheath named in the included components. The 18V ONE+ battery that actually makes it run is a separate purchase. It carries 4.5 stars from 2,168 ratings, and the bullets describe a 30cm Oregon bar and chain, an automatic oiling system, tool-less chain tensioning, a mechanical chain brake and a place in the ONE+ system of over 100 tools for the home and garden.

The specification table on this listing is where things stop adding up. In the field marked 'Horsepower' the listing puts '18 Watts', which is a wattage dropped into the wrong box. In the dimensions field it gives 2.1L x 0.49W x 2.4H metres, which is a size no 30cm-bar chainsaw occupies; the item weight beside it is a more plausible 4.49 kg. The chain speed is written as '10 ms'. Every figure on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from any test of ours.
