The Amazon Basics 14-litre safe is the most-reviewed product in this ranking: 29,924 ratings at 4.5 stars for £57.16, with a keypad, two override keys and a bolt-down kit.

It takes first place because 29,924 ratings is three times the next-deepest sample and because it is the only safe here with usable internal volume. Its one omission is the number that matters — the weight — which this listing does not publish.

## Questions people ask

**How much does it weigh?**

The listing does not say, and that is the point: the three 6.6-litre boxes here publish 1.87kg, 2.04kg and 2.6kg, and this larger safe publishes nothing.

**Should I bolt it down?**

Yes: the bolt-down kit is included and it is the only thing that stops the safe leaving the house.

**Does it need batteries?**

Four AA batteries for the keypad, not included, with two override keys as backup.

**How much fits inside?**

14 litres, which takes document files and boxes rather than just a passport.

**Why is it first?**

Because it has three times the reviews of anything else here and the only interior volume worth the word.

**How many ratings does it have?**

29924 at the time of collection, averaging 4.5 stars, with 71 per cent five-star and 4 per cent one-star.
