# Best Baby Playpen 2026: 10 Ranked by Floor Space, Not Panels

Panel count and the word 'XXL' are the numbers these listings push hardest. The floor your baby actually gets is a different number, and it does not scale with price. The KIDUKU 'XXL' eight-panel baby playpen at £139.79 is listed at 90 x 90 cm — 0.81 m², roughly £173 per square metre of floor. The £33.59 Dripex, a smaller baby playpen, is listed at 124 x 124 cm, which works out at 1.54 m² and about £22 per square metre. Meanwhile the £69.99 BEJOY gives 150 x 150 cm, or 2.25 m² — exactly the same floor area as the £169.99 Adventure Lion. Worth noting: BEJOY's own spec sheet lists its folded size as 150 x 150 x 68 cm, the same three numbers as its assembled size. One of those two figures has to be wrong.

We ranked ten of the best baby playpens on Amazon by floor area first, then price per square metre of that floor, then review volume, average rating, folded size and how easy each one is to move between rooms.

## The ranking

### 1. Venture All Stars Foldable Playpen with Mat, 135 x 135 cm

- Price: £69.99 | Amazon rating: 4.7 from 2,317 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/venture-baby-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DLBJC66N?tag=ranked10-21

Top of the list on value and proven demand: 1.82 m² of floor for £69.99, 2,317 ratings at 4.7, and a mat plus travel bag in the box.

It sits first because the numbers hold up. 135 x 135 cm is 1.82 m² of floor for £69.99 — about £38 per square metre, roughly a quarter of what the KIDUKU asks for its 0.81 m². This baby playpen also carries the third-largest review base here at 2,317 ratings, with a 4.7 average: 82% of those are five-star and 2% are two stars or fewer.

The frame is steel, the sides are breathable mesh, and a fitted floor mat is included, so the mat does not need buying separately. It is a foldable baby playpen in the literal sense — 75 cm high, 135 cm wide and 20 cm deep when packed, at 5 kg. The listed maximum weight recommendation is 15 kg, and Amazon places it 2nd in its Playpens chart.

That said, two things are worth checking. The folded width stays at 135 cm, so it needs a long gap to store rather than a small one. And none of the five bullet points mentions a zip door, unlike the Dripex, Kinderkraft and Tutti Bambini pens here. If your toddler needs to crawl in and out unaided, this is not the one.

Pros: 135 x 135 cm gives 1.82 m² of floor for £69.99 — about £38 per square metre; 4.7 from 2,317 ratings, the third-largest review base in this list; Fitted floor mat and a carry bag included in the box; Folds to 20 cm deep and weighs 5 kg; Amazon best-seller rank of 2nd in Playpens
Cons: No zip door mentioned anywhere in the five bullet points; Maximum weight recommendation is 15 kg, below the Dripex's 20 kg; Folded width stays at 135 cm, so it needs a long storage gap; 5 kg — heavier than the 3.2 kg CHOLY

### 2. Gupamiga Baby Playpen, 150 x 180 cm

- Price: £98.99 | Amazon rating: 4.4 from 4,609 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/gupamiga-baby-playpen-150x180
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D3ZWWQMF?tag=ranked10-21

The largest floor here at 2.70 m² and about £37 per square metre, but the folded size field is a single word: 'kompakt'.

By floor area this is the biggest playpen in the list. The listing gives 150 x 180 cm and a separate floor area field of 27,000 square centimetres; both work out at 2.70 m². At £98.99 that is roughly £37 per square metre, close to the Venture's rate for far more floor.

It is a panel build. The colour field reads 'white 6+5+1' and the manufacturer part number ends in 12, so panels can be added or removed to reshape the pen. The base uses an anti-slip design, the panel gaps are spaced to reduce the risk of pinching, and the brand says the whole thing can be rebuilt as a shelf once the child has grown. Assembly is claimed at under five minutes, without tools.

However, two things are missing. The folded size field reads only 'kompakt' — one word, no measurements — so you cannot check whether it fits a car boot before ordering. At the same time it weighs 10.9 kg, among the heaviest here, and no maximum weight recommendation is published at all. It is also 4.4 from 4,609 ratings, with 7% of them one-star.

Pros: 150 x 180 cm — 2.70 m², the largest floor area in this list; £98.99 works out at about £37 per square metre; 4,609 ratings, the highest review count here; Panels can be added or removed, and the brand suggests re-use as a shelf; Anti-slip base and pinching-resistant panel gaps
Cons: Folded size is listed only as 'kompakt' — no measurements at all; 10.9 kg, among the heaviest playpens in this list; 4.4 average, with 7% of ratings at one star; No maximum weight recommendation published in the specs

### 3. Dripex Foldable Playpen, 124 x 124 cm

- Price: £33.59 | Amazon rating: 4.8 from 2,071 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/dripex-baby-playpen-dark-grey
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F2GC66YX?tag=ranked10-21

The best floor per pound in the list: 1.54 m² for £33.59, about £22 per square metre, folding to 62 x 62 x 31.5 cm at 4.5 kg.

On cost per square metre, nothing here comes close. 124 x 124 cm is 1.54 m² for £33.59 — roughly £22 per square metre, against about £173 for the KIDUKU. This is the baby playpen for small spaces: it needs 124 cm of wall, and it folds down to 62 x 62 x 31.5 cm at 4.5 kg.

The frame is reinforced steel with anti-slip suction cups and extended support joints, and the sides are 210D Oxford fabric over mesh, with a zip door that opens from the outside only. The listed maximum weight recommendation is 20 kg, joint-highest here. By contrast with the rest of the list, its 4.8 average from 2,071 ratings is the highest score of any pen here.

Two things to check before buying. The listing dates its own upgrade to 11 August 2026 and says earlier orders may not include the ocean balls, so it is worth confirming which batch you are getting. And the sides are 210D Oxford fabric, which the listing says wipes clean — there is no mention of a mat or a removable, washable cover.

Pros: 1.54 m² of floor for £33.59 — about £22 per square metre; 4.8 from 2,071 ratings, the highest average in this list; 20 kg maximum weight recommendation, joint-highest here; Folds to 62 x 62 x 31.5 cm and weighs 4.5 kg; Zip door opens from the outside only
Cons: Listing's own upgrade date reads 11 August 2026; earlier stock may lack the ocean balls; 210D Oxford fabric sides — wipes clean, no washable cover mentioned; No floor mat listed in the contents; At 124 x 124 cm it is the second-smallest floor here

### 4. Dripex Foldable Plastic Playpen, 190 x 190 cm

- Price: £118.98 | Amazon rating: 4.3 from 2,541 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/dripex-foldable-baby-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BNMWLTTP?tag=ranked10-21

The biggest single footprint in the list at 3.63 m² for about £33 per square metre, but its bullets and spec fields contradict each other on measurements.

It is a large baby playpen by any measure: 190.5 x 190.5 cm, which is 3.63 m² of floor for £118.98 — about £33 per square metre, the second-cheapest floor per pound here. The listed maximum weight recommendation is 50 kg, the highest in this list by a wide margin.

It is an 18-panel build in high-density polyethylene, non-toxic and abrasion-resistant, with panels shaped into stars, a moon and a cat. There is a door that locks and opens only from outside. Weight is 14 kg, and the brand says panels can be arranged into custom shapes for the space you have.

The numbers in the listing fight each other, though. One bullet describes '18 panels measuring 75x75x24 inches' — 75 inches is 190 cm, which is the size of the whole assembled pen, not one panel; eighteen panels that size would be over 34 metres of fencing. In practice, read those figures as assembled dimensions in inches. The folded size field then reads '30 x 24' with no unit that makes sense. Check the shape you intend to build before ordering.

Pros: 190.5 x 190.5 cm — 3.63 m², the largest single footprint in this list; £118.98 works out at about £33 per square metre; 50 kg maximum weight recommendation, the highest here; 18 plastic panels that can be arranged into custom shapes; Non-toxic HDPE with a door that locks from the outside
Cons: Bullet claims '18 panels measuring 75x75x24 inches' — that is the assembled size, not a panel size; Folded size is listed as '30 x 24' with no unit that works; 14 kg, and no carry bag mentioned in the contents; 4.3 from 2,541 ratings, with 8% of them one-star

### 5. BEJOY Baby Playpen, 150 x 150 cm, Beige

- Price: £69.99 | Amazon rating: 4.4 from 491 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/bejoy-baby-playpen-150cm
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CQLKXZ33?tag=ranked10-21

Gives 2.25 m² of floor for £69.99 — the exact same area as the £169.99 Adventure Lion — yet its folded size is listed identically to its assembled size.

This baby playpen delivers the same floor as one costing £100 more. The spec sheet gives 150 x 150 x 68 cm, or 2.25 m², for £69.99 — about £31 per square metre. A separate floor area field reads 2.25 square metres, so the dimensions and that field agree with each other.

It is a stainless steel frame with alloy steel pipes and plastic joints, oxford cloth sides, breathable mesh panels and foam padding across the top rail. The 68 cm height is enough for a toddler to pull up on. Weight is 4.9 kg, and the brand says it disassembles without tools for moving between rooms.

The catch is the folded size. BEJOY lists it as 150 x 150 x 68 cm — the same three numbers as the assembled pen. A playpen does not fold into its own footprint. Either the field is a placeholder or this does not fold flat, and the listing never claims it does. Also worth noting: it ranks 31st in Amazon's Playpens chart, against 2nd for the Venture, and has 491 ratings rather than thousands.

Pros: 150 x 150 cm — 2.25 m² of floor for £69.99, about £31 per square metre; Exactly the same floor area as the £169.99 Adventure Lion; 68 cm height with a foam-covered top rail; Breaks down without tools and weighs 4.9 kg; The listing's own floor area field (2.25 m²) matches its stated dimensions
Cons: Folded size listed as 150 x 150 x 68 cm — identical to the assembled size; 491 ratings, the second-smallest review base in this list; Ranked 31st in Playpens, against 2nd for the top pick; 68 cm is fixed; the frame does not extend

### 6. CHOLY Baby Playpen, 128 x 128 cm, Dark Grey

- Price: £33.99 | Amazon rating: 4.5 from 216 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/choly-baby-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DYNSKJYQ?tag=ranked10-21

Rank 1 in Amazon's Playpens chart, the lightest pen here at 3.2 kg and 1.64 m² for £33.99 — but it does not fold.

This is currently number one in Amazon's Playpens chart itself — rank 1, ahead of the Venture at 2 — although it has 216 ratings against the Venture's 2,317. That is a wide gap between chart position and review volume, which means the ranking is doing more work here than the review base.

The numbers are sound for the money. 128 x 128 cm is 1.64 m² for £33.99, about £21 per square metre — the cheapest floor in this list, just under the Dripex's £22. It weighs 3.2 kg, the lightest here, on a stainless steel tube frame with reinforced joints and foam pads over the joints and supports. The maximum weight recommendation is 15 kg.

That said, it does not fold. Its own bullet says 'non-folding'. The folded size field reads 63 x 24 x 22 cm, which describes the packed-down bars and connectors rather than a one-piece pen. If you need a travel playpen you can throw in the car boot, this is the wrong choice; look at the Kinderkraft or the Tutti Bambini instead.

Pros: 1.64 m² for £33.99 — about £21 per square metre, the cheapest floor here; Rank 1 in Amazon's Playpens best-seller chart; 3.2 kg — the lightest playpen in this list; Stainless steel tubing with foam padding on joints and supports; Assembles quickly without tools, per the listing
Cons: Non-folding, by its own description; 216 ratings against 2,317 for the top pick, despite the higher chart rank; Folded size field (63 x 24 x 22 cm) describes packed bars, not a folding pen; 15 kg maximum weight recommendation, below the Dripex's 20 kg

### 7. Tutti Bambini Foldable Playpen with Travel Bag, 135 x 135 cm

- Price: £59.00 | Amazon rating: 4.6 from 549 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/tutti-bambini-foldable-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07ZZ35S2N?tag=ranked10-21

The most compact fold here at 29 x 29 x 75 cm and the same 1.82 m² as the top pick for £11 less — but its listed maximum weight is just 7 kg.

This is the travel playpen of the group. It folds to 29 x 29 x 75 cm, a far smaller footprint than anything else here, and the listing claims setup in under 60 seconds from an advanced folding mechanism. 135 x 135 cm gives 1.82 m² for £59.00 — about £32 per square metre, and the same floor as the £69.99 Venture for £11 less.

The frame is padded aluminium with netting sides and mesh walls for visibility and airflow, plus a zip-framed door so a toddler can crawl in and out. Weight is 6.34 kg, the heaviest of the mesh-and-aluminium pens here, and a travel bag is included. It rates 4.6 from 549 ratings.

Two reservations. The maximum weight recommendation is 7 kg — less than half the Dripex's 20 kg — and that sits oddly beside a bullet promising it will last 'for years to come'. And the title promises a mat and travel bag, while the first bullet is cut off mid-word at '(DOESNT inclu…'. Check what is actually in the box before ordering.

Pros: Folds to 29 x 29 x 75 cm — the most compact fold in this list; 1.82 m² of floor for £59.00, about £32 per square metre; Carry bag included, with setup claimed in under 60 seconds; 4.6 from 549 ratings; Padded aluminium frame with mesh walls and a zip-framed door
Cons: Maximum weight recommendation is 7 kg, the lowest in this list; Title promises a mat; the first bullet is cut off at '(DOESNT inclu…'; 6.34 kg — the heaviest of the mesh-and-aluminium pens here; Ranked 14th in Playpens despite 549 ratings

### 8. Kinderkraft ZIKI Foldable Playpen with Carry Bag

- Price: £50.15 | Amazon rating: 4.6 from 148 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/kinderkraft-ziki-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DSPYX4P4?tag=ranked10-21

1.60 m² for £50.15 — about £31 per square metre — with a stated age range up to four years, the longest in this list.

At £50.15 for 126.5 x 126.5 cm, this works out at 1.60 m² and roughly £31 per square metre — mid-table on price per pound of floor, but the only pen here that names an age limit rather than a weight: suitable for children up to four years.

The frame is steel, with a soft padded floor, mesh sides for airflow, a zip side entrance and non-slip legs that also protect flooring. It folds and unfolds in seconds, a carry bag is included, and the cover can be removed for washing — a detail the Venture and Dripex listings do not offer, describing wiping clean instead. Weight is 5.6 kg.

That said, there is no maximum weight recommendation anywhere in its specs, so the four-year claim is your only durability guide. The included-components field reads simply 'no', which makes the box contents hard to confirm. By contrast with the bigger names here, it has one of the smallest review bases at 148 ratings, and it sits 15th in Amazon's Playpens chart.

Pros: 126.5 x 126.5 cm — 1.60 m² for £50.15, about £31 per square metre; Stated as suitable up to four years, the longest age range in this list; Cover can be removed for washing, per the listing; Carry bag included; folds and unfolds in seconds; 4.6 from 148 ratings, with 79% of them five-star
Cons: No maximum weight recommendation published anywhere in the specs; 148 ratings — one of the smallest review bases here; Included-components field reads simply 'no'; 15th in Amazon's Playpens chart

### 9. Adventure Lion Foldable Playpen with Mats & Activity Panel

- Price: £169.99 | Amazon rating: 4.6 from 147 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/adventure-lion-baby-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BPQW6H7X?tag=ranked10-21

The most expensive pen here at £169.99 — and its 2.25 m² of floor is identical to the £69.99 BEJOY's.

At £169.99 this baby playpen costs £100 more than the BEJOY and gives exactly the same floor: 150 x 150 cm, 2.25 m². That is about £76 per square metre, more than three times the Dripex's £22. Both listings carry a floor area field of 2.25 square metres, so this is not a rounding difference between two spec sheets.

What the money buys is contents, not space. The box holds 12 small HDPE panels, a lockable door panel, an activity panel, a basketball hoop, one ball, 100 play balls, 25 EVA foam mats, anti-slip floor pads and suction cups. The plastic is food-grade HDPE, free from BPA and formaldehyde, and the brand says the panels form a square, rectangle, L shape or round area. It weighs 14.5 kg.

Even so, there are two limits in the listing itself. The mats only fit properly when it is built as a square — the listing says so directly. And you get 147 ratings, the smallest review base here, with 6% of them at two stars or below. If floor area is what you are buying, this is an expensive way to get it.

Pros: 150 x 150 cm — the same 2.25 m² of floor as the £69.99 BEJOY; Comes with 25 EVA foam mats, activity panel, hoop, ball and 100 play balls; Food-grade HDPE, free from BPA and formaldehyde; Panels rearrange into square, rectangle, L or round shapes; 4.6 from 147 ratings
Cons: About £76 per square metre — over three times the Dripex's figure; Mats only fit properly when it is assembled as a square; 14.5 kg, and no folded dimensions are published; 147 ratings — the smallest review base in this list

### 10. KIDUKU Wooden Playpen XXL, 8 Panels

- Price: £139.79 | Amazon rating: 4.2 from 1,326 ratings
- Full review: https://www.ranked10.co.uk/home/best-baby-playpens/kiduku-xxl-8-panel-playpen
- Buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BD57JMST?tag=ranked10-21

Sold as XXL with eight panels, but listed at 90 x 90 cm — 0.81 m² for £139.79, about £173 per square metre, the most expensive floor here.

This is the wooden baby playpen of the group, and the one where the marketing number and the floor number diverge furthest. Eight panels, sold as 'XXL', £139.79 — and a listed size of 90 x 90 cm. That is 0.81 m², or roughly £173 per square metre of floor, against £22 for the £33.59 Dripex. It is both the smallest floor in this list and the highest price per square metre.

The build is untreated solid pine with a stated height of about 70 cm, a door roughly 50 cm wide and 65 cm high, and anti-slip pads. Each element has a pressure mechanism that locks the shape so a determined toddler cannot shift it, and extra pens can be joined to extend the run. Weight is 16 kg, the heaviest here, and it folds to 90 x 70 x 20.5 cm. The maximum weight recommendation is 16 kg.

In theory the expandability answers the size problem — buy a second pen and the run grows. In practice that doubles the cost of an already expensive floor. The 4.2 rating from 1,326 reviews is the lowest average in this list, with 7% one-star and 7% two-star. In short, if square metres matter to you, this is not the pen; if you want solid wood and a fixed shape, the price is the trade.

Pros: Untreated solid pine with a locking pressure mechanism on each panel; 70 cm height and a door about 50 cm wide; Extendable by joining additional pens; Folds to 90 x 70 x 20.5 cm; 1,326 ratings — one of the larger review bases here
Cons: 90 x 90 cm is 0.81 m² — the smallest floor in this list; About £173 per square metre, roughly eight times the Dripex's figure; 16 kg — the heaviest playpen here; 4.2 from 1,326 ratings, the lowest average in this list

## Verdict

For most homes, the £69.99 Venture is the safest all-round buy: 1.82 m² of floor, 2,317 ratings at 4.7, a fitted mat, a carry bag and a 20 cm fold. If floor space is tight, the £33.59 Dripex baby playpen covers 1.54 m² for around £22 per square metre and packs to 62 x 62 x 31.5 cm — the cheapest floor in this list by a wide margin. If you want the most room for the money, the £98.99 Gupamiga's 150 x 180 cm gives 2.70 m² at roughly £37 per square metre. And if you are spending £169.99, know that the Adventure Lion's 2.25 m² is the same floor a £69.99 baby playpen already gives you; the extra £100 buys the activity panel, hoop and 100 balls, not square metres.
