The Amazon Basics Bookcase with 7 Compartments is a white cube shelving unit measuring 50 cm wide, 24 cm deep and 106 cm high, built from particle board and MDF with a smooth PVC laminate finish. It takes tenth place in this guide at £46.99, and carries a 4.6 out of 5 rating from 2,209 customer ratings — with 77 per cent of those ratings being five stars.

The reason it is worth a look is that, unlike most listings in this guide, its numbers agree with each other. The title says 7 compartments, the spec table's 'Number of Shelves' reads 7, and the style is named 'Seven-Cube'. The one field that tells you nothing is 'Weight Capacity', which reads 'Minimum weight: 12.1 kg' — identical to the Item Weight of 12.1 kg listed in the same table, so it describes the unit's own mass rather than what a shelf will hold. 'Shelf Thickness' is given as 0.47 inches, about 1.2 cm, which at least is a thickness and not a height. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing; we have not tested the bookcase ourselves.
