The GFW Classic Side Lift Ottoman Bed is a single bed frame in grey faux leather, with a stitched headboard, a gas hydraulic lift and a storage compartment under the mattress base. It sits at number four in this guide at £158.00, below the £179.99 the two Vida Designs beds here are listed at, and it carries much the largest review sample of the group: 1,220 ratings against the 111 behind the Vanita's 4.0.

That sample is where the interesting number sits. The GFW scores 4.2 out of 5, and only 10% of those ratings are in the bottom two bars — 7% at one star, 3% at two — while 60% are five star. It is also the one bed in this guide whose weight limit appears once and once only: 220 kg, with no second figure on the listing contradicting it. The soft spots are elsewhere. The title and the furniture finish both say faux leather, but the item type name on the same listing calls it a Classic Leather Upholstered Ottoman Storage Bed. And the included components line names one bed and nothing else, yet the top review shown on the page is about a mattress. Everything here is taken from the Amazon listing as published; we have not tested the bed ourselves.
