Modernique's Double Ottoman Storage Bed is a faux leather (PU) frame with a gas-lift storage base and sprung slats, sold flat packed in black at £179.00. It takes third place in this guide. The listing carries 4.4 out of 5 from 888 ratings — the largest review count on this page of the guide — and the version described here is the 4FT6 double: 152 cm wide, 201 cm long, with an 88 cm headboard. It takes a UK standard double mattress, 135 x 190 cm, and the listing states that the mattress is not included.

The figure that deserves a second look is the 4.4. The five star bars on the listing add up to 100, not to 888, so they are percentages rather than counts: 70% at five stars, 14% at four, 6% at three, 3% at two and 7% at one. Read against 888 ratings, that is roughly 62 one-star ratings and around 27 two-star ones. None of the details supplied to us quote a weight limit for the frame, so there is no load figure here to compare with the beds that do publish one — and one field is still the seller's template text, with the set name reading COLOR_NAME/SIZE_NAME. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for the Modernique bed, not from a test of our own.
