The Brother LS14S is the model that finished first in this guide. It is an entry-level machine with 14 stitches on a metal chassis, a drop-in bobbin, an LED light and a four-step buttonhole, finished in white and sold for £89.00. It measures 43.9 x 18.9 x 36 cm, weighs 5.1 kg, and comes with a three-year manufacturer warranty.

What sets it apart from the machines around it in the guide is the ranking data on its own listing. The Amazon page shows 1,323 in Home & Kitchen and first place in Basic Sewing Machines, with 4.7 out of 5 from 7,301 ratings — a far bigger body of ratings than the model whose copy carries the "Best Selling" wording. Everything on this page is taken from that Amazon listing: the specification, the price and the ratings are as the seller publishes them, not the result of any testing we have carried out.
