At number 6 in our best sofa beds guide, the Vipbear 160cm Boneless Sofa Bed is a compact two-seater that converts into a bed, wrapped in green corduroy and listed at £279.99. The listing rates it 4.4 out of 5 from 153 ratings, gives it a 30 kg weight, and says it needs no assembly: it arrives vacuum compressed and takes its shape on its own. Under the corduroy are two layers of high-density memory foam with a layer of spring material between them.

That price buys a listing that disagrees with itself on the basics. The bullets describe a 5-in-1 that converts into a sofa, lounger, chaise, double bed and guest bed; the Special Features field calls the same sofa a 4-in-1, 5-position reclining. Seat Depth is listed as 90 centimetres — on a sofa whose total depth is also 90 centimetres, which leaves nothing in the spec for a backrest. The same 160 cm appears as the length in the bullets and the width in the spec table. Cross-check one number against the next before you trust it. Everything on this page comes from the Vipbear Amazon listing, not from testing we carried out.
