The Vileda Steam Mop Plus is the fastest to heat in this ranking: the listing quotes a 15 second heat-up against the 30 seconds most rivals state, with 1550 watts, a 400 millilitre tank, steam control and a triangular head, detachable, at 2.1 kilograms, in the Steam Mop Plus model line.

The triangular head is the shape choice that matters for corners and along skirting boards, where a rectangular mop head simply cannot reach. The listing also advises distilled water in hard-water areas, which is worth following on any steam appliance. At the time of collection it carried 1,656 ratings at 4.4 stars. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.
