The TOOLIOM TL-31800H is an auto darkening welding helmet at £48.44, third in this guide. It is neither the cheapest nor the dearest model here, but it carries far more evidence than either end of the price scale: 614 ratings at 4.5 out of 5, against the 76 ratings combined on the two helmets priced at £129.99 and £109.99. The listing quotes a 3.94 x 3.66 inch viewing area (14.4 square inches) with 4 arc sensors, an optical class of 1/1/1/2, a DIN 4 light state and a 5-9/9-13 dark state, with sensitivity, delay and weld/cut/grind adjustments.

The listing does not always agree with itself. The lens bullet gives the switching time as 0.0003 sec and, in the same sentence, as 1/30,000 sec — a factor of ten apart. The headline rating count is 614, while the star breakdown shown on the same page adds up to 100. The item highlight calls the helmet type-C and solar powered, while the bullet points describe a replaceable lithium battery and solar. Every figure on this page is taken from the Amazon listing; we have not tested this helmet ourselves.
