The Interpet PF1 is the British staple with 2,752 ratings at 4.2 stars: £15.69, four stages of filtration, a stated tank size of 68 litres and a 7-watt pump.

It takes third because it works and people trust it, and fourth-best on data: it publishes the tank size and the wattage but not the flow rate, which is the number you need to calculate whether the turnover is enough.

## Questions people ask

**What is its flow rate?**

Not published. The listing gives a tank size and a wattage, and watts do not convert to litres per hour.

**Is 7W enough?**

For a tank up to 68 litres with light stocking, the model has years of reviews behind it; the wattage alone cannot answer the question.

**How many stages?**

Four, with directional and flow-rate controls.

**Is it good for a first tank?**

Yes: it is cheap, widely stocked in UK shops and easy to fit.

**Why is it third?**

Because it omits the flow rate, and the two filters above it publish both numbers.

**How many ratings does it have?**

2752 at the time of collection, averaging 4.2 stars, with 63 per cent five-star and 7 per cent one-star.
