The PawHut Hamster Cage, model D51-431V00BK, is a plastic two-tier cage with the levels joined by a ramp, a food dish and a 125ml water bottle in the box, and four wheels at the bottom for moving it about. It sits ninth in this guide at £38.65, with 4.4 out of 5 from 89 ratings, while the listing's own Best Sellers Rank puts it 12th in Small Animal Cages — Amazon's count, not ours. PawHut sells it as suitable for dwarf hamsters, Syrian hamsters and gerbils, and it arrives requiring assembly.

Size is where this listing works hardest and says least. The headline measurement is 57 x 43 x 57cm and the base is given as 57L x 43W x 35Hcm, so the lower footprint is 57 by 43 cm; the copy calls the cage spacious and says the two levels give lots of room, but the listing never converts any of that into a floor area. Further up this guide the BUCATSTATE states roughly 0.5m2 outright from its 100 x 50 cm, whereas the base dimensions here multiply to about 0.245m2, before anything the ramp between the two levels takes up. Smaller numbers disagree too: the rating line says 89 ratings while the five bars in the same block add up to 100, and the specification lists a "Dog Breed Size: Small" on a hamster cage. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for this cage; none of it comes from testing we have carried out.

**Is it suitable for a Syrian hamster?**
