ROYAL CANIN Mini Puppy Dry Dog Food is a 4kg bag of dry puppy food, fifth in this guide and the second most expensive headline price in the set at £24.95. Divide that by four and you get £6.24 a kilo. That is the number worth holding on to: the three bags that look cheapest on the page — £15.00, £15.99 and £16.12 — work out at £7.50, £8.00 and £10.75 a kilo, so this 4kg bag costs £1.26 less per kilo than the £15.00 one while costing £9.95 more at the till. It is not the value end of the list by weight either: Dr John's 10kg bag at £21.99 is £2.20 a kilo, roughly a third of the per-kilo figure here.

The listing disagrees with itself in a few places. Breed Recommendation says Small Breeds and one bullet promises "Kibble suited to small jaws", but the Dog Breed Size field says Medium. Flavour is listed as Unflavoured, while another bullet claims enhanced palatability for fussy appetites. Specific Uses For Product says Joints, even though the stated benefits are digestive safety, natural defences and tartar prevention. Country Of Origin is France, and the importer contact given is a Royal Canin office in Mumbai. The ratings side is tidier: 4.7 out of 5 from 2,908 ratings, with 82% of the breakdown shown at five stars and 7% at three stars or below. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing as it was presented to us, not from any test or feeding trial of our own.
