The Samsung 870 EVO is a 2.5-inch SATA III SSD with 1 TB of capacity, and it takes second place in this guide. Samsung's own bullet describes it as reaching "the maximum SATA limit of 560/530 MB/s sequential speeds" — 560 MB/s read, 530 MB/s write — and the listing price is £290.77.

That price is the interesting part. Lower down this guide sits a drive at £99.99 claiming 550 MB/s. Between the two listings, the 870 EVO's £290.77 is £190.78 more for 10 MB/s more on paper. The listing carries a rating of 4.7 from 44,260 ratings, and its histogram breaks down as 85 five-star, 10 four-star, 2 three-star and 3 one-star entries. The spec sheet is also worth reading closely: one field gives the interface as "Serial ATA-300" while another lists SATA 1.5 Gb/s, SATA 3.0 Gb/s and SATA 6.0 Gb/s. Everything on this page comes from that Amazon listing — its bullets, its spec sheet and its ratings — and not from any testing we ran.
