The Lexar EQ790 1TB is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive in the M.2 2280 size, and it takes fifth place in this round-up. The listing quotes sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,000/5,000MB/s, a limited 5-year product support period, and compatibility with PCs, laptops and the PlayStation 5. It is priced at £144.99.

The finding on this ficha is the price. The same Lexar EQ790 1TB is listed at £179.99 with a heatsink fitted, quoting the identical 7,000/5,000MB/s — £35 for a piece of aluminium over the same drive. That matters next to the two drives in this guide quoting PCIe 5.0 figures (11,000/9,500MB/s and 14,800/13,400MB/s) that the console's PCIe 4.0 bus cannot use. One quirk in the spec table: the drive is listed as "M.2 2280" under Form Factor and as "22 Millimetres" under Hard Disk Form Factor. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for this drive, not from testing we carried out.
