Sixth in this guide, the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM is a stabilised standard zoom for Canon EF bodies, priced at £625.48 on its Amazon listing. It carries 4.4 out of 5 from 419 ratings, and its spec table lists a 24-70mm zoom range, a 77mm filter thread, nine diaphragm blades and a 0.38m close focus.

The name says f/4, and the same page's spec table agrees with 'Maximum Aperture: 4 f', alongside a minimum aperture of 22 f. Then a bullet on that same page promises 'Fast f/2.8 max. aperture'. Both figures cannot be right, and nothing else in the listing backs the f/2.8 line. The spec table also carries 'Fixed Focal Length: 50 Angstrom', a unit of length attached to a field that is not a fixed focal length at all. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from testing we carried out.
