The LaCie 5TB Rugged Portable Hard Drive with USB-C is number 5 in this guide. It's a 2.5-inch, 5400 RPM mechanical drive in the orange rubber sleeve LaCie has sold for years, listed at £225.85 with a 4.5 rating from 8,238 reviews. The rugged claim sits in the bullets: shock-resistant, waterproof and pressure-resistant, and the buyers quoted below broadly back that up.

What holds it at number 5 is its own spec sheet. The same listing quotes a Read Speed of 130 MB/s, a Data Transfer Rate of 110 MB/s, and a third field, Media Speed, repeating the 130 figure in a different format (1.3E+2). That is three entries for one job, two of which disagree by 20 MB/s. The listing also gives the dimensions as 15 x 15 x 20 cm and 400 g, while the first bullet calls it "minimal size" and the form factor is a 2.5-inch drive. And the box contents name a LaCie Rugged Mini, not the Rugged Portable drive the title describes. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from any testing of our own.

The listing gives three entries: Read Speed 130 Megabytes Per Second, Media Speed 1.3E+2 megabytes_per_second (also 130), and Data Transfer Rate 110 Megabytes Per Second. The advert does not explain why the transfer rate sits 20 MB/s below the read speed.
