The Edifier R1280DB is a pair of active bookshelf speakers: the amplifier is built into the cabinet, so there is no separate amp to buy. It takes second place in our guide to bookshelf speakers, at £113.05, with 4.6 out of 5 from 1,036 ratings. The listing claims 42W RMS, a 55Hz–20kHz frequency response, a 4-inch bass driver and a 0.5-inch silk dome tweeter per cabinet, Bluetooth 5.1, optical, coaxial and RCA inputs, and a remote for volume and input switching.

The reason this one is worth a closer look is what its own specification table says about water. The same listing carries "Is Waterproof: True" and, a few lines later, "Water Resistance Level: Not Water Resistant" — two fields that cannot both be right. It also lists the colour as Brown while the product name says Oak. Every figure on this page comes from the Amazon listing as it stands, not from any testing we carried out.

## Questions people ask

**Is the Edifier R1280DB waterproof?**

The listing contradicts itself. One specification field reads "Is Waterproof: True" and another reads "Water Resistance Level: Not Water Resistant". Nothing else in the advert settles which is meant, so it should be treated as an indoor speaker.

**What inputs does the Edifier R1280DB have?**

The listing gives Bluetooth v5.1, optical, coaxial and RCA inputs. The bullets describe the optical and coaxial connections as digital inputs for lossless connection to most TVs and computers.

**Does the Edifier R1280DB come with a remote?**

Yes. The listing gives Remote as the control method, and the fourth bullet says the remote adjusts volume and toggles inputs, with bass and treble controls on the side of the main speaker.

**How much power does the Edifier R1280DB produce?**

The listing states 42W RMS. That is the figure the advert gives, stated alongside a frequency response of 55Hz–20kHz.

**What is the Bluetooth range of the Edifier R1280DB?**

The listing gives a maximum range of 10 metres for the Bluetooth connection, which it lists as version 5.1.

**What size are the Edifier R1280DB's drivers?**

A 4-inch bass driver and a 13mm (0.5-inch) silk dome tweeter in each cabinet, according to the listing. The description also mentions a bass reflect port.
