The Akai MPK Mini Play MK3 is a 25-key USB MIDI keyboard controller with a built-in speaker and over 100 internal drum and instrument sounds, so it can be played without a computer. It finishes at #8 in this guide at £92.00, rated 4.4 out of 5 from 2,253 ratings. The number that stands out on this listing is the price per key: £92.00 across 25 keys works out at £3.68 a key, against £1.53 a key for the 49-key M-AUDIO Keystation 49 MK3 at £75 and £1.31 a key for the 49-key Nektar SE49 at £64.

The £13 it costs over the 25-key Akai MPK Mini MK3 at £79 does not buy more keys — it buys the built-in speaker and the internal sounds, which is what this version is. It does not buy a bigger pile of ratings either: 2,253 here against 30,642 on the cheaper 25-key Akai. In the breakdown listed on the page, 73 of the 100 ratings shown are five-star. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for this product, not from our own testing.
