The fanxiang PS2100 is the toughest drive in this ranking on paper: the listing describes a rugged 1TB portable SSD rated IP68, quoting up to 2000 megabytes per second over USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, with dust, shock and water resistance named among its features and compatibility spanning laptops, desktops, consoles, TVs, smartphones and Macs.

IP68 is a higher water resistance rating than the IP65 Crucial above it, which matters if the drive is genuinely going outdoors rather than between an office and a home. At the time of collection it carried 366 ratings at 4.4 stars. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.
