Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The DR.ÖTEK MTXE AIR is the £99.99 model sitting eighth in this guide. It is a six-mode detector with a 9.8-inch IP68 waterproof coil, a stem that adjusts from 39.2 to 53.1 inches, and a backlit LCD showing depth, target ID and sensitivity. The bullets describe a complete kit — headphones, carry bag and digging shovel — and the listing records 155 ratings at 4.3 out of 5.
Its interest here is different from most of the guide. On this listing the coil figures cross-check instead of contradicting each other: the bullets say 9.8 inches and the specification table says 24.89 Centimetres, which is the same measurement written two ways. The weight behaves the same — 980 g in the table, 2.16 lbs in the bullets. Where it stops adding up is the ratings: the five bars of the breakdown carry 100 marks between them, against the 155 ratings recorded on the page. Everything below comes from the Amazon listing itself; we have not handled or tested the detector.
How those 155 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.3 stars.
