Rank #2 in Best Metal Garden Sheds 2026: 10 Ranked, Specs Fact-Checked
Duramax TOP 8 x 6 Metal Garden Shed (4.79 m2)
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The Duramax TOP 8x6 is the second shed in this guide: a hot-dipped galvanized steel storage shed in anthracite, listed at £349.70 with 4.6 out of 5 from 52 ratings. At 78 kg it sits at the heavy end of the 8x6 and 8x4 metal sheds here, and it comes with a 25-year warranty.
Its own listing disagrees with itself about the measurements. The spec table gives 1.83D x 2.62W x 2.05H metres; the bullet gives external dimensions (L x W x H) of 261.6 x 183 x 204.5 cm. Those are the same two figures with the depth and width labels swapped — one entry calls the 1.83 m side the depth, the other calls the 2.62 m side the width. The declared floor area of 4.79 m2 only works one way: 2.616 x 1.83 comes to 4.79 m2, which is the outside footprint rather than the floor you actually stand on. And the chamber depth is listed as 173 cm, exactly the same number as the door height. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from any test we carried out.
How those 52 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.6 stars.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“Bought this shed about a year ago, unfortunately I couldn't get it assembled until now! It lay in its packaging. Just finished assembling it and I found the instructions first class. It went up like a dream in around 20 hours in total (I assembled it on my own with the help of a step ladder and sack truck. Once assembled and fixed down into concrete it is very sturdy. The only problem I had was the parts MB 17 and MB 18 are at 90 degrees angle and when fitted actually stopped the rain water escaping from the roof panels MF 15, MF 16 and MF17. I had to open the angle out to approximately 115 degrees very carefully. The end caps TC had to be cut and bent out to the same angle approximately 115 degrees using a hacksaw and a cup of boiling water. All works perfectly now! I also fitted a gutter, fittings and down pipe made by Flo Plast and bought from B&Q which finishes it off nicely. Yet to fit a floor which will be done asap. Other jobs need doing! Hopefully it will last as long as my previous shed which was over 20 years old! It looks a stunning shed, nice quality and finish! Recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Questions people ask
How big is the Duramax TOP 8x6 shed?
The listing gives two sets of figures. The spec table says 1.83D x 2.62W x 2.05H metres; the bullet gives external dimensions of 261.6 x 183 x 204.5 cm (L x W x H). Those are the same measurements with the depth and width labels the other way round, so check which side you need before ordering.
Does the stated floor area match those figures?
Only if you measure the outside. 2.616 m x 1.83 m comes to 4.79 m2, which is the external footprint the listing quotes, so the usable floor inside will be smaller than 4.79 m2.
How much does the Duramax TOP shed weigh?
The listing gives 78 kg.
Does it need assembling?
Yes. The listing states assembly is required, and it also lists a 25-year warranty.
How much snow can the roof hold?
The listing says the reinforced metal roof structure can hold up to 20 lbs/sq ft of snow.
How thick is the steel?
The listing says the hot-dipped galvanized steel is "20 thicker" than conventional sheds, but never says whether that is 20 mm, 20 per cent or something else, so the claim cannot be checked from the page.
