Rank #2 in Best Rotavators 2026: 10 Ranked, and Two Claims That Don't Add Up
VonHaus 1500W Corded Tiller Rotavator, 45cm Width
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The VonHaus Tiller Rotavator Corded 1500W is the mains-powered machine at number 2 in our best rotavators guide. The listing gives it a 1500W motor, six angled steel blades running at 400rpm no-load, a 450mm working width, a tilling depth of up to 22cm, a 10m cable, two rear wheels, and a weight of 12.6kg. It sells for £119.99 and holds 4.6 out of 5 from 113 ratings.
The argument running through our guide is about cordless machines, where claimed runtime moves in the opposite direction to battery capacity. This tiller avoids that whole question: it is corded, it claims no runtime, and its power figure is a mains figure of 1500W. The numbers still deserve a second look, though. The listing's dimensions field reads 22D x 45W x 95H cm — and 22 and 45 are exactly the tilling depth in centimetres and the working width in centimetres, so that field describes the ground the machine works rather than the machine itself. Separately, the star breakdown (77 five-star, 17 four-star, 3 three-star, 1 two-star, 2 one-star) adds up to 100, while the listing states 113 ratings. Everything on this page is taken from the Amazon listing; we have not tested this tiller ourselves.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“What a fantastic machine! This rotavator exceeded all my expectations. Assembly was straightforward and took less than an hour after delivery. I was quickly out in the garden preparing a 10m x 7m area for a new lawn. Despite the ground being heavily compacted, it powered through with ease and did an excellent job. Highly recommended. A real little workhorse!”
Verified purchase“A really powerful and robust tiller rotavator. Quite effective at loosening the soil, helps extract rocks, stones, dead roots, weeds etc. upto a depth of 4-6 inches necessary to aerate the soil and prepare it for raking and levelling. The 1500w motor generates enough power from the mains to till through the soil easily. The wheels help in maintaining stability while operating it and the machine feels well planted at ~12kgs while being driven. Caution: take care to avoid large tree roots and rocks, never try to force the rotovator deeper down into the soil; instead clear the loosened soil and go for a second pass over the area to achieve better depth of aeration. Pace yourself gently and steadily thro the lawn, raking the soil after each pass for a better finish.”

Questions people ask
Does the VonHaus Tiller Rotavator run on a battery?
No. The listing describes it as corded electric with a 1500W motor and a 10m cable, so there is no runtime claim to compare with the cordless tillers in the guide.
How deep and how wide will the VonHaus tiller work?
The listing states a tilling depth of up to 22cm and a working width of 450mm, using six angled steel blades at a no-load speed of 400rpm.
What does the listing say the machine measures?
The dimensions field gives 22D x 45W x 95H cm. The 22 and the 45 are the same figures as the stated 22cm tilling depth and 45cm working width, so that field repeats the working area rather than the size of the unit.
How is the VonHaus tiller rated so far?
4.6 out of 5 from 113 ratings. The breakdown shown is 77 five-star, 17 four-star, 3 three-star, 1 two-star and 2 one-star, which adds up to 100 reviews against the 113 the listing quotes.
What do buyers say about the power?
One reviewer reports preparing a 10m x 7m area of heavily compacted ground and says the tiller powered through it with ease; another says the 1500W motor generates enough power from the mains to till the soil easily.
What safety features are listed for the VonHaus tiller?
The listing mentions a dual trigger safety switch, overload protection and electric brakes that bring the rotavator to a stop when the triggers are released.
