Tuda Grass Direct Luxury 30mm

Is the Tuda Grass Direct Luxury 30mm worth buying?

Yes, if your patch is small and gets walked on: the Tuda Grass Direct Luxury 30mm gives you 2 m² of 30mm pile for £19.98, and 1,800 buyers rate it 4.6, the largest and strongest review record of any turf at this price. It is the right buy for a doorway, a balcony floor, a shed threshold or the strip between a path and a wall.

Skip it if you are covering an actual lawn. At £9.99 per square metre you pay £3.49 more for every square metre than a 6 m² 30mm roll costs, and the difference grows with the area rather than shrinking.

What does the Luxury 30mm cost per square metre?

It works out at £9.99 per square metre. The £19.98 buys 2 m², delivered as two pieces of 1 m by 1 m, and 19.98 divided by 2 gives 9.99.

Put that against the 30mm Antalya, which covers 6 m² for £39, or £6.50 per square metre. Covering the same 6 m² with the Luxury 30mm would take three orders, £59.94 in total, and £20.94 more than the single Antalya roll for the same 30mm pile. The Luxury earns its price on a small area, where 6 m² is more turf than you can use.

What does the Luxury 30mm look like once it is down?

You get two 1 m by 1 m pieces with a 30mm pile in green, backed with water-resistant latex that has drainage holes punched through it. Rain passes through the pile and the backing instead of pooling on top, and the 30mm depth is the same as the Antalya and the Jersey, so it sits and feels like a proper lawn underfoot.

The pieces are simple to cut and shape, which is what a doorway, a step or an awkward corner needs. It is sold as pet friendly and child friendly, needs no mowing, watering or feeding, and it is intended for outdoor use in gardens and on terraces in full sun. Free samples are available by email, and the same product is offered in 47 sizes if 2 m² is not the shape you need.

Where does the Luxury 30mm fall short?

The price per square metre is the big one: £9.99 against £6.50 on a 6 m² 30mm roll, which is £3.49 more per square metre. On 2 m² that is £6.98 of difference, and it is why this roll is a patch filler rather than a lawn.

It also arrives as two separate 1 m pieces, so a 2 m wide run has a join down the middle, and joins are the first place a lawn starts to look like a lawn that was assembled. The 2 m² ceiling is real too: a space of 3 m by 3 m needs nine of these against one 9 m² roll.

It is aimed at full sun, so a corner that sits in shade all afternoon is not where it belongs. Move that job to a roll rated for partial shade instead.

How does the Luxury 30mm compare with the Antalya and the Bodrum?

The Antalya is the same 30mm pile over three times the area: 6 m² for £39, which is £19.02 more than this piece but only £6.50 per square metre. Choose it the moment your space is bigger than a doorway or a balcony, because the price per square metre drops by £3.49.

The Bodrum goes the other way on depth rather than area. It costs £9.99, half of what the Luxury costs, and gives 1 m² of 40mm pile, which is 10mm deeper, at £9.99 per square metre. Take the Bodrum when the patch is about a square metre and you want it thick underfoot, and take the Tuda Grass Direct Luxury 30mm when you need 2 m² and want both pieces to match.
