“Bought this camping stove as backup for my boat's methylated spirit stove and for camping. I bought this one because of all of the positive reviews about it, mainly build quality and use and that the gas canister and level of heat can actually be controlled from the rotary knob. I have had many of this type of stove before and have recently bought another but found it very flimsy and had a safety feature that was actually dangerous and it only had two settings full gas or off! Useless! So once again I trawled the adverts and found this camping gaz one.It is as good as everyone says. Much more sturdy as it's got thicker metal and has been put together solidly... the pan support is fixed so has more weight to it and the gas canister fits securely. Gas valve is positive and igniter lights gas first time every time and you can turn the gas right down low and still have gas right round the burner. The burner itself is secured properly to the stove's frame and only has gas coming out of the outer burner apertures which is why I think the flame can be controlled throughout the full range of the rotary control. Plus one other thing, it's carry box is much more solid and like in the advert you can use it to support the stove when in use. You can't use stove in the carry case, don't know why you would want too as the wind guard round the burner is sufficient to stop flame blowing out... wouldn't work in a hurricane but if you're in that situation lighting a stove is the least of your worries! I'm a qualified marine engineer BTW so my advice and write up about this stove comes from a good grounding in engineering skills. So a good quality stove that I think will last me a good long time using it practically and within its design parameters. Look after it and it'll look after you... only one small niggle and that is the (copper) gas supply pipe to the burner has been slightly crushed when it was bent into shape but it doesn't seem to effect the supply.. maybe a pipe bender would be a better way to bend it rather than a machine that bends out thousands that gets distributed to every maker of these stoves.... It's more of a niggle cos of my engineer background and it jarrs with the obvious build quality of the stove. Anyway, hope this is a help to anyone thinking of paying the little bit extra for this stove than the thousands of cheap ones on the market today. Thanks for taking time to read this.”
