Rank #3 in Best Electric Toothbrushes 2026: 10 Ranked, From £8.49 to £119
Philips Sonicare 4100 Electric Toothbrush
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The Philips Sonicare 4100 is a rechargeable sonic toothbrush with a pressure sensor, a two-minute SmarTimer with QuadPacer, and a quoted price of £49.99. It takes third place in this guide on the strength of 36,640 ratings averaging 4.2 out of 5, the largest review count in the lineup.
Where other brushes in this guide put a vibration figure in their bullets, the 4100's bullet points quote no oscillation number at all, claiming instead up to 5x more plaque removal than a manual toothbrush. Its spec fields contradict the rest of the listing in one place: 'Power Source' reads Corded Electric, while the same page describes a handle that runs for two weeks on one charge. On the brighter side, its title, its model name and its model number all say 4100, which the Sonicare 1100 elsewhere in this guide cannot manage. The rating and the review count are the numbers here that hold up. Everything on this page is taken from the Amazon listing and its customer reviews, not from any testing we carried out.
How those 36,640 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.2 stars.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“Yeah it a great toothbrush. Last 3 weeks before I had to charge it still going string feel it a great toothbrush.”
Verified purchase“The price of the 4100 bounces around everywhere all the time from £35 upwards so if you can get it for around that price, it represents good value for an electric toothbrush. This is my second one, and they do the job. Simple to use (one press at the start for normal vibration or two presses at the start for a bit more vibration) and then a two minute timer starts, with a vibration every 30 seconds until it stops. Brushes last about 3 months but aren't outrageously expensive - I just bought a load to last a few years. Excellent delivery and packaging as usual.”

Questions people ask
Is the Philips Sonicare 4100 corded or cordless?
The bullets describe a rechargeable handle that lasts two weeks per charge, while the spec field 'Power Source' says Corded Electric. The listing does not reconcile the two.
How long does the battery last?
The listing states one charge lasts for two weeks. One reviewer reports going three weeks before charging.
Does it come with a plug?
A USB charger is listed as included, but the bullet points state that a wall adaptor is not included, so you may need your own.
How many brushing settings does it have?
Two. The bullets mention two intensity settings and the 'Number of settings' field also says 2, so this pair agrees.
How many ratings does the Sonicare 4100 have?
36,640 ratings, averaging 4.2 out of 5.
Does it remove more plaque than a manual brush?
The listing claims up to 5x more plaque versus a manual toothbrush. That is the brand's own claim, not a figure we measured.
