Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
This is the only clipper in the ranking aimed at cats rather than dogs, and the listing names the feature that matters for matted fur: five speed settings, which lets you start slow on a nervous animal instead of jumping straight to a high blade speed. It also quotes 55dB, IPX6 waterproofing, an LCD with a battery indicator, four guide guards at 3, 6, 9 and 12 millimetres and a USB charger, under model number 7268.
Five speeds is more control than the two or three offered elsewhere here, and low starting speed is the practical way to keep a cat calm. At the time of collection it carried 5,563 ratings at 4.5 stars. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.
How those 5,563 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.5 stars.
