Rank #10 in Best Balance Bike 2026: 10 Ranked, and the Specs That Don't Add Up
Hornit AIRO 12 Inch Balance Bike, 2.95 kg, 1.5-5
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The Hornit AIRO 12 sits at number 10 in this guide, and at £139.00 it costs more than the £32.99 and £29.99 bikes also named here. Its own numbers are unusually consistent for this list: the product title and the first bullet both put it at 2.95 kg, so that is the figure worth keeping. It is a 12-inch balance bike with a magnesium-alloy frame, air-filled tyres, sealed bearings and grip-taped footrests contoured into the frame, listed for ages 1.5 to 5.
The spec table repeats the pattern this guide keeps finding. The same bike is listed with 'Power Source: Pedal power' and 'Brake Style: Drum', neither of which appears in any bullet, and the first of which is the opposite of what the bike is; its drivetrain field, by contrast, reads 'No drivetrain', which does agree with the copy. Amazon shows 4.8 out of 5 from 165 ratings. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing for this bike, not from a test of our own.

An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.8 stars.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“I was directed to this brand of balance bike for toddler grandson. The quality all round is exceptional. Very sturdy and robust. Its taken bumps and knocks that come with a lively toddler and escaped without damage to parts or paintwork. It was more expensive than other similar size bikes, however, this bike is in a league of it's own. It will last for years. Even when outgrown it would still be a perfect condition for a sibling hand down bike without any guilt. Grandson loves this bike, it's well used and it all looks as good in all aspects as the day it was purchased.”
Verified purchase“The Hornit Airo is a great little 12" wheel balance bike , super lightweight, the centre frame tube has a carry handle & the crank area has grip tape foot rests so your child can put their feet up when free wheeling. The bike came boxed all ready to go , just need to straighten the handlebars with an Allen key supplied in the box. This bike isn't the cheapest but I looked at others & its by far the best quality & build I could find & my 3 year old grandson loves it too 👦”

Questions people ask
How much does the Hornit AIRO 12 weigh?
The product title and the first bullet both give 2.95 kg, which is the figure to trust because it is repeated in the copy rather than sitting in a single field.
What age is the Hornit AIRO 12 for?
Hornit lists it for ages 1.5 to 5, and the Amazon age field simply says 'Little Kid'.
Does the Hornit AIRO 12 have pedals?
No. The bullets describe grip-taped footrests contoured into the frame for freewheeling, and the drivetrain field in the spec table reads 'No drivetrain'. The same table's 'Power Source' field reads 'Pedal power', which does not match.
What are the tyres and bearings like?
The bullets describe air-filled tyres for a smoother ride, sealed bearings and a padded stem for extra protection.
How much assembly does it need?
According to the bullets, three bolts to tighten, or four if you count adjusting the seat.
What warranty comes with the Hornit AIRO?
The bullets offer a free lifetime warranty on the frame and forks.
