Voice Caddie SC4 PRO

Is the Voice Caddie SC4 PRO worth buying?

The Voice Caddie SC4 PRO at £600.14 is worth buying if you use an iPhone or iPad and want a launch monitor with its own screen, a 3D driving range and side spin readings in one box. It is not the right buy for an Android user, because the simulator will not run on that platform.

The unit holds a 4.1 rating from 139 owners, and that is a modest base for a £600 purchase. What you get for the money is a 10-inch LCD that shows the numbers without a phone in your hand, plus voice output of the distance after each shot.

How much does each Voice Caddie SC4 PRO metric cost?

Divide the £600.14 price by the eight key data measures and each figure works out at £75.02. Those eight are carry and total distance, ball speed, swing speed, smash factor, apex, launch angle, launch direction, and spin rate with side spin or back spin.

Side spin is the rare one, and it is why the price per metric climbs. The SC4 PRO also carries a 10-inch LCD and a 3D driving range that the cheaper radar units do not, and those extras sit outside the metric count.

What comes in the box with the Voice Caddie SC4 PRO?

The box holds the SC4 PRO unit, a remote control, a USB cable, a user manual and one lithium polymer battery, which is included. The unit measures 4.88 x 19.28 x 2.9 cm and weighs 590 g, so it fits in a golf bag pocket and sits on the ground without a tripod.

The remote keeps your hands off the unit between shots, and the ambidextrous build means left and right handed golfers use it the same way. It is made of plastic and comes in black.

What are the drawbacks of the Voice Caddie SC4 PRO?

The simulator runs on iOS only, so an Android phone or tablet cannot use it at all. That is the largest limitation, because the 3D driving range is one of the reasons to pay £600.14.

The price per metric is £75.02, the highest of the ten units in this group. Only 139 owners have rated it so far, and the free E6 Connect subscription includes one course and a driving range before extra courses need paying for.

How does the Voice Caddie SC4 PRO compare with other launch monitors?

The Rapsodo MLM2PRO at £549 is £51.14 cheaper and reads thirteen metrics, six of them measured, including spin axis. It does that without a built-in screen, so the SC4 PRO's 10-inch LCD is the part you pay extra for.

The Garmin Approach R10 at £445 is £155.14 cheaper and reads ball spin, ball speed, club head speed, swing tempo and launch angle with 10 hours of battery. It has no screen and no simulator, which makes the SC4 PRO the better buy for a home bay, and the R10 the better buy for the range.
