The Marcy MD-9010G is a Smith machine with an integrated weight bench, listed at £1,299.00 and rated 4.1 out of 5 from 51 reviews. It sits at number 10 in this guide. The listing gives a maximum user's weight of 300 lbs / 136 kg and a maximum of 600 lbs / 272 kg on the rack, with cables described as aircraft rated at 2000 lb tensile strength — roughly 907 kg. The unit itself is listed at 160 kg.

The numbers inside that single listing do not agree with each other. The spec field "Tension Supported" reads 272 kg, which is simply the rack figure repeated, while the bullet on the cables claims 2000 lb — around 907 kg, more than three times as much. The warranty is given twice and differently: one bullet promises a lifetime frame with 3 years on parts, pulleys and cables and 1 year on upholstery, while the warranty spec field says "WARRANTY - 2 YEARS". Even the footprint is stated two ways: the bullet gives 254 cm long, 203 cm wide and 216 cm high, while the spec field gives 2.53 m deep, 2.14 m wide and 2.18 m high. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing as it stands there, not from any testing of our own.

“Excellent machine for the money - you need plenty of space for it , but it's a very good piece of equipment . Don't think you can find a better piece of Kit for home use at anywhere near this price . it's as good as you see in many commercial gymsAlso impressed with Pure Fitness & Sports{ the company that sell this ) - the machine arrived with a part damaged in transit , and they had a new part delivered within 2 days of me letting them know - would definitely recommend”

“It took a day to build by myself but now its set up its everything I need. Luckily I already have the weights to go on it but if you go direct for an extra 100 quid you can get a good set of weights with it. If you want to change delivery time then you really have to keep pushing them because they couldnt get hold of the delivery driver until half hour before my time slot. Anyway who cares my marcy gym is an amazing bit of kit”
