The Dong Cheng 1/2 inch Brushless Impact Wrench sits at number six in this guide, at £65.99 with a 4.5-star average from 120 ratings. It is the clearest example of the pattern running through this list: the big number in the product name is the loosening figure, not the tightening one. The listing's own bullets give 682 N.m of breakaway torque and 488 N.m of tightening force, and the model number is DCPB488DM — 488, not 682.

What separates this from the three cordless tools in the guide that arrive without a battery is the contents list: one 4.0Ah battery, a fast charger, five impact sockets (17, 19, 21, 22 and 24mm), two pins, two O-rings, a belt clip and a storage box. There is one small conflict inside the same listing worth flagging: a bullet describes "4.0Ah large-capacity batteries" in the plural, while the included-components line and the set name both say one battery. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from our own testing.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

“Taking the price, performance, ease of use and comprehensive contents of the supplied bundle into consideration, I am completely satisfied with this product. I am a little sceptical about the claimed maximum torque, but as yet I have no evidence of any such shortcoming. As a refinement, a lower torque setting would have been useful. Nevertheless, it can still do all the jobs that I need and I was not expecting to receive anything better, for the price. It's good value and I would make the same choice again. A nice little unexpected extra with my kit was a 3/8 inch adaptor.”

“Ok, I purchased this for one job and one job only. Changing a timing belt on a kia sedona, the crankshaft pully is torque to 415nm!!!!!! Most cars are a third of that, anyway your not undoing that with a ratchet and to re tighten afterwards posed a huge issue, 130nm for wheel lugs, so you get the idea! Undone the bolt like it was butter and re tightend it again with no issues as the middle setting is around 410 nm. Brilliant impact gun, highly reccomended at this price.”

Questions people ask

Why does the name say 682 Nm when the specs say 488 Nm?

They measure different things. The Dong Cheng bullet points give 682 N.m of breakaway torque, which is the force for undoing a seized nut, and 488 N.m of tightening force. The model number, DCPB488DM, carries the 488 figure, not the 682 in the product title.

Does the Dong Cheng DCPB488DM come with a battery and charger?

Yes. The included-components line lists 1 × impact wrench, 1 × 4.0Ah battery, 1 × charger, 5 impact sockets (17, 19, 21, 22, 24mm), 2 cylindrical pins, 2 O-rings, 1 belt hook and 1 storage box.

How many batteries are in the box?

The listing is inconsistent here. The included-components line and the set name ("1X 4.0Ah Battery") both specify one battery, while a bullet point refers to "4.0Ah large-capacity batteries" in the plural. The stated contents list gives one.

What can this impact wrench actually undo?

The listing claims 682 N.m of breakaway torque, and the accompanying review describes undoing a crankshaft pulley bolt torqued to 415 Nm and retightening it on the middle speed setting. Dong Cheng gives no separate figure for the highest of the three speeds.

Does it have speed settings and a work light?

The Dong Cheng listing describes 3 adjustable speeds running up to 2,400 RPM with a variable trigger, plus reverse auto-stop technology that halts rotation in 0.5 seconds once a nut is loose. A built-in LED work light is listed for engine bays and undercarriages.

How heavy is it?

The specification table lists the item weight as 2 kg. The listing also calls the tool compact and describes a balanced, anti-slip grip to reduce hand fatigue.
