Rank #3 in Best Key Safe 2026: 10 Ranked, and the Numbers That Don't Add Up
KeySafe C500 Pro Police Preferred Key Safe, £68.95
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The KeySafe C500 Pro is a fully mechanical, wall-mounted key safe and the third entry in this guide. At £68.95 it is the most expensive box on the list, and it is rated 4.6 out of 5 from 1,502 ratings. The listing copy leans on the Secured by Design police-preferred specification, an A5 security rating and a single-piece hardened zinc alloy body — a different pitch from the plastic boxes further down the page.
What the page does not settle is water. The bullets say the C500 Pro is "rust and water resistant", tested between -32°C and 68°C, with a weather-resistant ABS cover, and "designed to be wall mounted outdoors". The spec panel on the same listing gives the Water Resistance Level as "Not Water Resistant". Both lines sit on the same product page. Capacity gets the same treatment: the bullets promise space for up to 6 keys, the spec table's Capacity field reads "6 load", and the only measurements offered are exterior — 6.3 cm deep, 8.1 cm wide, 14.9 cm high. There is no internal figure to check against. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from any test we ran.
How those 1,502 ratings break down

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“This safe is excellent and looks, does and performs as it's meant to. Size, strength and ease of fitting are outstanding. Inside measurements could have been bigger but this would have affected the overall size and strength somewhat and I believe the price. The entirely mechanical construction without any batteries or WiFi connectivity is just what I wanted, ie, not having to rely on any time or weather sensitive delicate parts, just once in a while wipe clean, PTFE based spray lubricant to make sure all remains in good working order. Ideally, I would have liked to store 3 keys with plastic fobs and a car key but it's not big enough for all these and I removed the hook from the inside and used blu tak to hold the keys in place and to allow me to close the safe securely. The car key is kept elsewhere safely. I don't think there is anything available on the market which will have the capacity to hold 4 chunky keys I had in mind, not at this price anyway, so really delighted with the key safe. The setting of code and positive clicking on pressing the buttons to open is very nice and reassuring, The construction is zinc alloy so non rusting outdoors. I would buy this again.”
Verified purchase“This is no lightweight key safe solid construction I like the way it's fixed to the wall with rawlbolts self taping no rawlplug needed once fitted it's not coming off .it is pricy but it is the business”
