Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.

The Terratek 135W Rotary Tool Kit (model TMT234-2) is a corded electric rotary tool with a 234-piece accessory set, listed at £27.95, and it takes third place in this guide. The listing gives it a 135W motor, a speed range of 8,000–33,000rpm set with a wheel on the body, a 1.6–3.2mm collet range, a 500 g weight and a position of 23 in Amazon's Rotary Tools ranking.

What sets this one apart in this category is that its numbers mostly survive being checked against each other. The Minimum Speed field reads 8,000 RPM and the Maximum Rotational Speed field reads 33,000 RPM — the same two figures the bullet quotes — and the bullet's "only 0.5kg" is the 500 g in the Item Weight field. The wobble is in the count itself: Number of Items says 234 while Unit Count says 1.0, so the 234 is pieces of accessory, not 234 tools. And the bullet that itemises the set names 17 pieces — 1 saw blade, 2 mandrels, 2 sanding drums, 3 drill bits and so on — before the text cuts off, so most of the 234 is never listed by name. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from a test of our own.

What buyers actually say

“This is an excellent tool, so much so that when the last one I bought started to slip a little on the fittings, after four years of hard use, I immediately ordered this one. When it arrived, and I assembled the collet fitting I realised that I had been using the same collet all of the four years, and so hadn't noticed the spare of the same size which is included in the tool kit. Having now fitted the spare collet to the old machine, it s just as good as it ever was, and I now have two really good multi tools. I am an idiot, I know, but I am an idiot who has two of these, and can recommend them...”

“GREAT cheap alternative to a dremel. Have waited to review as I wanted ot know what the durability was like. has been used VERY heavily in a workshop for nearly 2 years and has only now started to wear out (bearings getting noisy). the supplied bits range from invaluable to total crap but thats easily remedied by buying Dremel bits. Over all the whole kit is well worth the money and I imagine for occasional use this will last a VERY long time.”
