Oral-B Pro 1

Is the Oral-B Pro 1 worth buying?

Yes. The Oral-B Pro 1 costs £29.99 and has the two features that matter most: a pressure sensor and a 2-minute timer. It is the cheapest brush we ranked with a pressure sensor, and 5,023 buyers rate it 4.2.

It suits anyone moving from a manual brush who wants a proper clean without paying for apps or light rings.

What does the pressure sensor actually do?

When you press too hard, the brush stops its pulsations straight away. As a result, you feel the change and ease off, which protects your gums and enamel.

Meanwhile, the timer buzzes every 30 seconds, so you give each quarter of your mouth the same time.

What is in the box?

You get the handle, 1 brush head and a charger with a two-pin plug, made for a bathroom shaver socket. The 3 modes include a Sensitive one for tender gums, and the round head works with the wide range of Oral-B heads in shops.

Where does the Oral-B Pro 1 fall short?

There is only 1 brush head, so budget for replacements every 3 months. There is also no travel case, and the pressure warning is something you feel rather than see.

How does it compare with the Pro 3 3000 and the Sonicare 3100?

The Oral-B Pro 3 3000 costs £77.34, which is £47.35 more, and adds a visible pressure light and a second head. Meanwhile, the Philips Sonicare 3100 costs £49.64 and adds a travel case and a sonic feel. For cleaning alone, the Pro 1 is the better value.
