The Cookology CCFZ420BK is the chest freezer at number one in this guide: a black, freestanding unit listed at 418 litres for £399.99. That works out at roughly 96p per litre of stated capacity, and the listing supports the size with a 4.5-star average from 3,681 ratings and a Best Sellers Rank of 1 in Chest Freezers. It is also the only freezer here that the listing says can be switched to Refrigeration Mode, so the same cabinet can hold drinks at a party or stock at a freezer temperature.

The model number is where this listing does exactly what the rest of the guide warns about. Cookology puts 418 litres on sale as a CCFZ420BK: the digits read 420 against 418 litres in the specification, a two-litre stretch rather than a marketing leap, but the same habit that produces a 508L Haier named HCE520EK and a 143L COMFEE' named RCC146. Two other fields in the same listing also disagree with each other: the colour is given as black while the door material is given as stainless steel, which are not the same finish. As always, everything on this page is taken from the Amazon listing as it stands, not from any testing we have carried out.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

“Excellent product ! Useless delivery person who knocked on the door ran to his van offering no help at all whilst leaving the freezer at the top of the path.It is good to have the option of using it in either fridge or freezer mode. The operation is quiet. There is plenty of space in the fridge/freezer.To have the ability to keep it in an out building is a bonus. If the delivery driver had been helpful I would highly recommend to all. It was just a miracle that I did not end up in hospital moving the product from the top of the path to its location.”

“Arrived well packaged & without any damage, light enough to move whilst empty. The finish is semi matt black not shiny, just what I wanted. Works perfectly & holds so much shopping. I was going to put it in the garage but it's so quiet I've kept it in the kitchen for convenience. So far it hasn't overly iced up. For a 99litre it holds so much, very happy with purchase.”
