Is the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood worth buying?

Yes, the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood is worth £69.99 if you want 400 m³/h over a standard 60cm hob and no chimney box sitting in front of the pans. The angled body throws the glass back towards the wall, so the view of the hob stays clear and tall pans have room. It suits a kitchen with a solid wall for an 11.2 kg bracket and either a route outside or a carbon filter on the shopping list.

The one thing to decide before ordering is how you will vent it. Ducting straight outside needs no carbon filter and costs nothing beyond the hose; recirculating needs the B098XFHFY3 filter, which is not in the box. Owners who cook for an hour at a time should also note the 64 dB at top speed, which is the sound of a conversation held with the fan running.

What does 400 m³/h actually do in a kitchen?

The number that defines this hood is 400 m³/h, and at £69.99 it works out at £17.50 for every 100 m³/h of extraction. That is more air than a 60cm hob produces during a normal dinner, so frying smoke, pasta steam and the smell of onions are gone within a few minutes of switching on.

Three speeds let you sit low for simmering and push to the top for a seared steak, and the 5-layer aluminium grease filter is what holds that 400 m³/h figure steady over the years. A clogged filter is the usual reason any hood feels weaker after a year, and this one lifts out so it can be washed and dropped back in.

What comes in the box and what do you have to buy separately?

You get the machine body, a 5-layer aluminium grease filter, an LED lamp, the touch control panel and the fixings, along with a step-by-step installation video. The carbon filter is the one missing piece: for recirculating mode order the COMFEE' B098XFHFY3 separately, because a ducted install needs no carbon filtration at all.

The body measures 597 mm wide, 373 mm deep and 403 mm high, with a height-adjustable chimney that sets the clearance above the hob. It weighs 11.2 kg, which is a two-person lift onto the wall bracket, and the glass and aluminium finish wipes clean with a damp cloth. COMFEE' covers it with a 2-year manufacturer warranty and keeps spare parts available for 10 years.

Where does the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood fall short?

The carbon filter is a separate purchase, so a recirculating kitchen pays past the £69.99 headline before the hood is finished. The 11.2 kg body also needs a wall that will take a proper fixing and a second pair of hands at the bracket, since plasterboard on its own will not carry it.

There is no booster, so the top speed is the ceiling, and 400 m³/h is not the most airflow you can hang over a 60cm hob. At 64 dB it stays audible across an open-plan room, although it is a quieter hood than the cheaper COMFEE' chimney model.

How does it compare with the COMFEE' chimney and the CIARRA angled hood?

The COMFEE' 60cm Chimney Black moves the same 400 m³/h for £49.99, so the £20 here pays for the angled shape and 3 dB less noise, not for more suction. Take the chimney version when the wall has the height for a box, and this one when you would rather keep the hood out of your eye line.

The CIARRA CBCB6736C Angled 60cm costs £99.99, £30 more, runs at 57 dB and brings its CBCF002X2 carbon filters in the box, which makes it the stronger buy for a flat that recirculates. The FIREGAS at £75.67 is the one for a quiet kitchen: 47 dB and a timer, in exchange for 68 m³/h less airflow than this COMFEE'.

What about the FIREGAS if noise is my main worry?

Then the FIREGAS is the better fit of the two, at £75.67 and 47 dB, which is 17 dB below this hood's 64 dB and roughly a quarter as loud to the ear. The trade is airflow: 332 m³/h against 400 m³/h here, so a hard-frying hob will outrun it.

Stick with the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood if you want the extra 68 m³/h and the angled glass front, and accept that a full-speed session is a loud one. Neither hood needs a carbon filter in ducted mode.

Questions people ask

Does the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood need a carbon filter?

Only in recirculating mode. Ducting the air outside needs no carbon filter, while recirculating asks for the COMFEE' B098XFHFY3 filter, which is not included. Buy it with the hood if you have no external wall to vent through.

What are the dimensions of the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood?

It is 597 mm wide, 373 mm deep and 403 mm high, with a height-adjustable chimney for the run up to the ceiling. The 597 mm width matches a standard 60cm hob, so the canopy covers every burner.

How heavy is it and can one person fit it?

It weighs 11.2 kg, so plan for two people on the bracket. The body is glass and aluminium, and COMFEE' supplies an installation video that walks through the wall fixing and the chimney height.

How loud is the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood?

It runs at 64 dB at top speed, across three selectable speeds. Lower speeds are the ones you will use for simmering, so the hood spends most of its life well below that figure.

What warranty comes with the COMFEE' 60cm Angled Hood?

COMFEE' gives a 2-year manufacturer warranty, and spare parts remain available for 10 years. That covers the motor, the touch panel and the LED lamp.
