The Kenmore Filter Coffee Machines 12-Cup Drip Coffee Maker is the fourth machine in our guide to filter coffee machines. It is listed at £58.49 with a 4.5 rating from 1,407 reviews, and it is a 1.8-litre glass-pot drip machine with a programmable timer, an LCD display, a reusable gold-tone cone filter and a charcoal water filter cartridge in the box.

The listing itself is the reason it sits where it does. Its own spec table carries a "Brand Name" field that reads Koolatron, while the product name and the manufacturer field both read Kenmore — so the brand in the spec box is not the brand on the front of the page. The same table lists the coffee input type as "ground_coffee, whole_beans", although the name says the machine is for ground coffee and the brewing bullet describes water flowing through grounds in a cone filter; nothing in the listing grinds beans. Everything here is taken from the Amazon listing, not from testing we carried out ourselves.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

Verified purchase

“Love this coffee machine. It's straightforward and easy to use. We've had ours for almost 2 years now and we're happy with it. Wouldn't say you'd get 12 cups of coffee from this unless you're using small cups. The heating function works well unless you prefer very hot coffee, you might need to heat some more before drinking. You change out the water filter every two months but you can get a bulk supply of these for cheap. Works well and does what it says on the tin.”

“Great little coffee machine that has the perfect combination of looks and features for a good price, with the key feature being that it keeps the coffee warm for 2hrs (most other machines are much less due to EU regulations). Also includes a reusable filter which is really easy to wash, or if you prefer you can use a standard paper filter.Overall a great machine which looks good and isn't too big on a worktop - definitely recommended.”

Questions people ask

What brand is this coffee machine?

The product name, the model name and the manufacturer field all say Kenmore, and the opening bullet describes Kenmore as an American heritage appliance brand established in 1913. The spec table's Brand Name field, however, says Koolatron — both appear on the same page.

How much coffee does it brew?

The listing says up to 1.8 litres (1.9 quarts) into the dishwasher-safe glass pot, with a 1-4 cup mode for smaller servings.

Can I put whole beans in it?

The spec table's Coffee Input Type field lists ground_coffee and whole_beans, but the product name says the machine is for ground coffee and the brewing description is about water flowing through grounds in a reusable cone filter. A drip machine of this type does not grind.

What is in the box?

The Kenmore KKCM12B ships with the coffee maker base, a glass carafe with lid, a reusable cone filter, a water filter holder and one charcoal water filter cartridge.

Is the pot dishwasher safe?

Yes. The spec table's dishwasher-safe field says yes, and the capacity bullet describes the glass pot as dishwasher safe.

What special features are listed?

Auto shut-off, dishwasher safe, programmable and timer, according to the product's special features field.
