Best Kids Scooter 2026: 10 Ranked, From £20 to £160

The besrey kids scooter sits first because of the ratings rather than the marketing: 4.8 from 5,206 buyers, with 87 in every 100 ratings in its histogram at five stars. The spec sheet complicates the story. The title says 'Big Wheels'; the Wheel Size field says 8 centimetres, which is 80mm. The RideStar further down costs £35 less and lists 120mm.

The rest of the numbers hold together. The frame is aluminium, the deck is widened with an anti-slip coating, and the stated maximum load is 110 pounds (50kg) against a 2.8kg scooter. As a foldable kids scooter it arrives assembled: one step unfolds it, and the handlebar reaches 76cm. The LED wheels are motion-activated and need no batteries.

That said, do not buy it if wheel size or a tall handlebar matters to you. At 80mm these are the smallest stated wheels in the list, and 76cm is lower than the KORIMEFA's 85cm. The spec also labels it a toddler scooter while the title says ages 3-10, which is a very wide brief for one frame.

By contrast with the besrey, this one's problem is a single field. The Mini Micro Deluxe LED lists Handle Height: 110 centimetres, which is not a handlebar height. A bullet in the same listing says the scooter is built for riders up to 110cm tall. One of the two figures is wrong, and the handlebar is adjustable from far lower down.

In practice everything else is the most refined package here. At 1.9kg it is the lightest of the ten, and it carries a 50kg maximum — roughly 26 times its own weight. The wheels are 120mm and light up using induction energy, so no batteries are involved. The deck is recycled, the grip is non-slip, and one button releases the handlebar, which means a tired two-year-old can be moved along with the scooter in one hand.

The catch is price and lifespan. At £89.95 it costs more than four times the RideStar, and the 2-5 age band means many children outgrow it well before the 2-year spare part window closes. If your child is already five, look at the Maxi below instead.

Third place comes from the volume of feedback: 17,408 ratings at 4.4, the largest sample in this list, plus 120mm front wheels. However, two height figures in the same listing disagree. Handle Height is given as 34 inches, about 86.4cm. The item dimensions list the whole scooter as 83.8cm high. The handlebar cannot sit above the top of the scooter.

At the same time the design itself is useful: seat fitted for sitting, seat removed for standing, and a fold for the boot of a car. It weighs 4.08kg, more than double the Mini Micro Deluxe and the heaviest three-wheeler here, and the stated maximum load is 132 pounds (60kg). Front suspension and an extra-wide deck are listed, and the brake is rear.

That said, if you want something light for a small child, this is not it. Even so, it is the cheapest way here to get both modes, and as a kids scooter with seat the flip-out pad is the reason to choose it over the YOLEO, which costs £3.05 more.

This is the most expensive item here at £159.95, and the extra buys range rather than speed. The bullet says the handlebar runs from 67cm to 92cm; the spec field says 91cm. That 1cm gap is the smallest contradiction in this list. At the top of that range it fits a child of 12.

In practice it takes the 120mm wheels, the lean-to-steer mechanism and the 50kg maximum of the smaller Micro and stretches the frame to a 5-12 age band at 2.5kg. If you want a lean to steer scooter for kids who will keep growing for another seven years, this is the one built for it. Crucially, it folds on one click, and spare parts stay available for 2 years.

Worth noting: the spec publishes no item dimensions at all, only a 2.5kg weight and a limited warranty. There is no seat and no parent handle, so it is not the answer for a two-year-old. And at £159.95 it costs £70 more than the Mini Micro Deluxe it is based on.

At £21.24 the RideStar is the second-cheapest kids scooter here, and it lists the same 120mm wheels as the £56.99 besrey. The handlebar has four positions — 58cm, 63cm, 68cm and 73cm — which suits a three-year-old and still fits at six. At 1.81kg it is also the lightest of the ten.

The riding parts are standard rather than cut down: PU wheels, ABEC-7 bearings and a rear tap-to-brake footbrake. The aluminium T-bar folds flat against the deck for storage. As a result it is the obvious first scooter for a child who has never ridden one, and 3,490 ratings at 4.2 support that.

The catch is the load rating. Maximum weight is 20kg — the lowest here, and less than half the 50kg of the next lowest. A six-year-old above 20kg should not be on it, whatever the age range says. The histogram also puts 7 in 100 ratings at one star, behind only the KORIMEFA and LOL-FUN.

The YOLEO is the second cheapest way to get a seat, at £29.99 against the Hurtle's £26.94, and it lists a larger wheel: 12 centimetres, or 120mm. Height adjusts from 65cm to 77cm with three seat positions. However, its rating sample is by far the smallest of the seated options — 805 against the Hurtle's 17,408.

The seat is the point of the design. A child can sit and glide, then the seat lifts off and the frame becomes a standing three-wheeler. The chassis uses a triangular structure and the PU wheels carry colour LEDs without batteries; the listing notes that the lights need a fast glide to trigger. It handles 50kg and weighs 2.8kg.

That said, the height range is short: 65cm to 77cm, lower than the KORIMEFA's 85cm and the LOL-FUN's 83.8cm. It will not follow a tall five-year-old. Two wheels light up rather than three, and no maximum age is stated.

Seventh place, and the widest age span here: 12 months to 5 years, and up to 110cm tall. It converts three times — parent-guided ride-on, seated toddler scooter, then a plain three-wheeler. The contradiction is in the handlebar. The spec lists Handle Height: 25.5 centimetres, which is a seat height, not a steering height, on a product sold for children up to 110cm. The same spec calls the handlebar 'Flat' while the bullets say it is adjustable.

In practice the parent handle is what you are paying for, and it removes when the child is ready. The wheels are 120mm PU, the frame weighs 2.2kg and is rated to 50kg, and crucially the spare part window is 10 years — the longest in this list, level with the LOL-FUN.

Even so, at £109.95 it is the second most expensive item here and has the smallest Micro rating sample: 452 ratings at 4.6. If your child is already three and scooting confidently, you are paying for stages they have passed. The spec also lists Unit Count: 3.0, which does not match the single scooter described.

The KORIMEFA is a 3 wheel scooter for kids from 3 to 12, and its numbers are the most accommodating of the mid-priced group: a 65kg maximum load, the highest stated here, and a handlebar running 72cm to 85cm, the third tallest in the list. At 2.5kg it sits in the middle of the field.

The deck does the work: 5.5 inches wide, which is enough for both feet. The wheels are 120mm PU with LED lights and no batteries, and assembly is a single push of the T-bar into the deck. As a result it is one of the easiest of the taller scooters to live with day to day.

That said, the title says '4 Adjustable Height' and the first bullet says '3 Height Adjustable'. One of them is wrong. The histogram is also the second weakest here: 8 in 100 ratings are one star and 6 are two stars, so 14 in 100 sit at two stars or below. If you want a proven record rather than a long spec, the Hurtle or the RideStar have far bigger samples.

At £20.00 this is the cheapest kids scooter in the list, and the only one sold as a trainer that steps down: four wheels for balance, then three, then two. The wheel figures do not survive contact with the spec. The bullet says '4 large PU wheels'; the Wheel Size field says 1 centimetre. Both cannot describe the same scooter.

The conversion is the feature, and it is a sensible one for a first scooter. It folds and locks, the handlebar is described as height adjustable with child-sized grips, the deck is metal and the whole thing weighs 2.7kg. The handbrake is unusual here — every other scooter in this list uses a rear foot brake.

However, this is the most contradictory listing of the ten. The handlebar is described as height adjustable in the bullets and as 'Fixed' in the spec. Handle Height is 97cm against an item height of 16cm. And the maximum age recommendation is 2, on a scooter sold as a pre-school trainer. If clean numbers matter to you, buy elsewhere.
