Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The C920 is the benchmark webcam in this ranking and still the one most people should compare everything else against. The listing describes 1080p recording at 30fps with a 78 degree field of view and a glass lens, USB connectivity, dual microphones with noise reduction, a clip and stand mounting and a 162 gram body.
Glass is the standout word here: most cameras at this price use plastic lenses, and glass is why the C920 has stayed in production for so long rather than being replaced by something newer. Its 78 degree coverage is also narrower than the 90 degree budget models below it, which is deliberate. At the time of collection it carried 10,724 ratings at 4.6 stars. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.
How those 10,724 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.6 stars.
