The OraCool King Mattress 5FT is a 26cm hybrid: 720 individually wrapped pocket springs arranged in seven zones, 1cm of Blue Air memory foam, a contoured comfort layer and a quilted knit cover, listed at £199.99. It takes ninth place in this guide, and its own specification sheet is the reason it sits here rather than higher. The field the listing labels "Item Thickness" reads "26 Picometre". The field directly below it, "Item Dimensions", reads 200 x 150 x 26 centimetres. A picometre is one trillionth of a metre, so one of those two figures is not a measurement anyone can buy a bed for. The bullet points say 26cm, the material description says a 22cm pocket-spring core under roughly 3cm of foam, and 26cm is 10.2 inches — the thickness one of the reviews quotes.

The rest of the sheet holds together better. The coil count is 720 in the title, in the first bullet and in the "Number of Mattress Coils" field; the seven layers in the bullets match the "Number of Layers" field; and the metric dimensions of 2L x 1.5W x 0.26Th metres convert to the same 200 x 150 x 26 centimetres. Two smaller oddities are worth knowing before you compare: the care instruction says "Hand Wash Only", and the rating breakdown supplied with this listing totals 100 ratings — 6 three-star, 13 four-star and 81 five-star — against the 37 ratings shown on the product page. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for this mattress. We have not slept on it, measured it or tested it ourselves.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

“The mattress arrived compressed into a vacuum-sealed bag, tightly rolled up, wrapped in another layer of plastic, and then slid into a sturdy cardboard box. All of which had no trouble keeping the mattress secure and clean during shipping. The double size is definitely on the heavier side, but it was still very manageable to get it moved into place before opening the box. Removing and discarding the old mattress is honestly the trickier part in comparison. There is a printed set of diagrams on the box on how to unpack the mattress, which is worth a look, particularly if you're not looking to get knocked over by the mattress if you do it in the wrong order. Once it's out of the box, it's just a case of setting it on an appropriately large and flat surface, then you use the provided safety blade to remove the outer film wrapper, which is keeping it rolled up. Then you can roll it out and break the seal on the second layer to let the air get in, and it'll start to expand while you remove the plastic. It's really simple, and as long as you don't get overzealous and puncture both layers at once, you'll have no drama getting it unpacked. They do mention it'll take about 3-4 days to fully expand once you've unpacked it, but it was expanded enough to use in a few hours and was very close to the full thickness within half a day. Like any new mattress, it took a few days to reach the full 27cm thickness and settle, so the first few nights aren't going to match how it feels in the longer-term. Though honestly, I couldn't really fault the first few nights at all, and it's an excellent medium-firm mattress that will suit most people just fine. As a combination sleeper, I haven't had any issues falling asleep on my side and comfortably waking up on my back, front or side while using this.At the current asking price of £165.99, I've got no complaints, it's well priced relative to other affordable options of the same size, features and firmness. I can't speak to the longer-term comfort and durability of the mattress just yet, but if I do run into any issues down the line, I'll be sure to update the review accordingly. Ultimately, I'd say if you're not keen on dropping 500+ quid on a big-name equivalent, then these generic brands are well worth a go, as they're an excellent option these days.”

“The OraCool 10.2‐inch 7‐Layer Single Mattress is a very solid choice if you want a mix of comfort, support, and modern memory‐foam design without paying premium prices. At 3FT (single size) it fits standard UK single frames perfectly, and the build quality feels much better than you'd expect at this price point. The medium‐firm feel strikes a great balance: soft enough on top for pressure relief, but supportive enough underneath to keep your back aligned. It's ideal for kids, teens, guest rooms, or adults who prefer a mattress that doesn't sink too much. The 7‐layer structure actually makes a difference — you get a cushioned top layer, breathable foam sections, and a stable base that stops the mattress from feeling flimsy.Memory foam can sometimes run warm, but this mattress stays surprisingly cool. The airflow layers help prevent heat build‐up, and the cover feels fresh and comfortable even during warmer nights. It absorbs movement well, so you don't get that bouncy feel when shifting positions. Lying on your side, back, or stomach all feels supported, and the foam adapts nicely without swallowing you whole. It arrives vacuum‐rolled, expands quickly, and reaches full shape within a few hours. There's only a light "new mattress" smell, and it fades fast. The outer fabric is soft, neatly stitched, and feels durable. The mattress holds its shape well and doesn't sag or dip after use.The OraCool 10.2‐inch 7‐Layer Single Mattress is a fantastic medium‐firm option for anyone wanting comfort, support, and breathability in a compact 3FT size. It's great for everyday use, guest rooms, or upgrading a child's bed. Excellent value and genuinely comfortable.”

Questions people ask

How thick is the OraCool King Mattress?

The listing gives two answers. The "Item Dimensions" field says 200 x 150 x 26 centimetres and the bullet points describe a 26cm mattress, but the separate "Item Thickness" field says "26 Picometre". The centimetre figure appears in three places; the picometre figure appears in one.

How many springs does the OraCool King Mattress have?

720 individually wrapped pocket springs in seven targeted support zones, according to the title, the first bullet point and the "Number of Mattress Coils" field, which all agree.

How firm is it?

The "Item Firmness Description" field says Medium, while the bullet points describe a "balanced medium-firm" sleeping surface suitable for back, side and combination sleepers.

How is the OraCool King Mattress delivered?

Vacuum-compressed and rolled, weighing 33kg, in a cardboard box. The listing says to allow 24 to 72 hours for it to expand fully. One review describes the double size as heavier but still manageable to move into place before opening.

What warranty comes with it?

The listing states a 100-night sleep test, a 5-year warranty and OEKO-TEX-certified materials.

Do the reviews cover the size sold here?

Not all of them. The listing is a King 5FT, but the reviews mention a 3FT single and a double, so some were written about other sizes in the same range.
