The Bosch Professional GCM 12 GDL takes the number one slot in our guide to mitre saws. It is a corded 305 mm mitre saw built around a glide arm rather than rails, supplied with a 72-tooth Expert for Wood blade, a double line laser and a clamp, listed at £989.99 with 4.6 out of 5 from 190 Amazon ratings.

What puts it at the top is not one headline figure — it is what happens when you set the listing's own numbers side by side. The specification table says 230 Volts; a bullet further down the same page says 240 V. The item dimensions field reads 30.5L x 3W x 0.2H centimetres, which is the blade's 305 x 30 x 2.4 mm converted into centimetres, not a machine weighing 29.4 kg. The blade length field says 670 Millimetres. And the same table asks for 1 Lithium Ion battery on a saw it also describes as Corded Electric. Every figure on this page is taken from the Amazon listing for this saw, not from testing we carried out ourselves.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

Verified purchase

“Monster saw, accurate cuts and got it for a great price! If you can get it cheap enough then jump on it! It's a full size mitre saw, will a smaller footprint than most due to the arm not extending back.”

“Not cheap but a well made, cleverly designed, quality chop saw with a big cross-cut capacity that doesn't have rails to get in the way. Just about the best chop saw on the market. The best bits are the trenching cut, the really large material capacity, the greater than usual mitre angles and the adjustable laser guide - although that last bit could do with some form of automated, delayed switch off.I say 'just about' because: The dust collection system needs improvement. There's no means of extracting anything that gets blown down underneath the table slot. You have to pickle/vacuum it out regularly. The bevel lock is also a bit too stiff for anyone not possessed of a gorilla's grip.”

Questions people ask

Does the Bosch GCM 12 GDL need a battery?

The specification table lists '1 Lithium Ion batteries required', but the same table gives the power source as Corded Electric and the saw is sold as the 240V version, so the battery line does not fit anything else on the page.

What voltage does the Bosch GCM 12 GDL run on?

Two answers sit on the same page: the specification field says 230 Volts, and the scope of supply bullet says 'Voltage 240 V'. The product name says 240V too.

Which blade comes with the Bosch GCM 12 GDL?

The bullets list an Expert for Wood blade, 305 x 30 x 2.4 mm, 72, part number 2 608 642 531. The included components field lists a saw blade 305 mm under part number 2 608 642 103. Both are 305 mm blades, but the numbers differ.

How big is the Bosch GCM 12 GDL?

The item dimensions field gives 30.5L x 3W x 0.2H centimetres, which matches the blade's 305 x 30 x 2.4 mm rather than a mitre saw weighing 29.4 kg. The listing otherwise describes the glide arm hinge as making the saw compact from front to back.

What is the cutting speed?

The specification table lists 3800 RPM.

Is there a warranty on the Bosch GCM 12 GDL?

The listing states a 2 year standard warranty, extended by 1 year once the tool is registered.
