Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.

The ValueMax 130 W rotary tool kit is the cheapest thing in this guide at £22.85, and it takes the number seven spot. For that money you get the tool itself, a cover shield, a storage bag and 119 accessories, plus a 4.4 rating from 243 buyers. It is a corded tool running at 230 volts, not a battery one.

Most of its numbers survive a check against each other. The 130 W in the title matches the 130 W Power Rating field and the "pure copper motor" bullet. The 35,000 rpm no-load speed quoted in the bullets matches the Maximum Rotational Speed field. The 119 accessories in the title match both the bullet text and the included components list. The number that does not survive is the weight: the bullet text says the whole tool weighs 0.65 kg, while the Item Weight specification says 1.04 kg — roughly 60 per cent more. Nothing on the page explains the gap. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing for this product; we have not tested it ourselves.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

“Nice chunky feel to it, doesn't feel trashy at all. Powerful. Good quality mains cable. The UK plug came with a 13 amp fuse fitted, which I replaced with a 5 amp fuse. Comprehensive little box of tools but they're of the type you'd probably use once then throw away. Nice to have though. The carbon brushes are replaceable but they don't provide spares. Everything comes with a nice bag, unfortunately the zip mechanism was missing on mine but oh well. Along with the on/off switch the speed control also has an on/off function, a bit confusing at first. If you're a suburban bodger who probably only needs a tool like this occasionally you cant go wrong. But a real tradesperson could save a bit of cash too.”

“Has been much more useful to me than I thought, I've cut through small steel rods, modded a PC case and done work on my bike brake cable housing with this, lovely to have a little cutting tool that will cleanly get through small bits of metal. Be aware though, it's NOT an angle grinder, small items only, but it is powerful enough to cut well, make sure you use safety glasses.”
