Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.

The AEG LWR7185M4B is a white washer dryer with an 8 kg wash load, a 5 kg dry load and a 1400 rpm maximum spin, listed at £599.00 and sitting at number 6 in this guide. It is the machine on the list that leans hardest on a single letter: "Rated Class A on the EU energy label for this model." That is the whole claim. The same listing never states a drying class, so the advert alone does not tell you whether that A covers the drying half of the machine or only the wash half — which is the problem running through this entire category.

Two other numbers here are worth reading twice. The specification field says 42 Kilowatt Hours with no time period attached, so it cannot be set against the 208 Kilowatt Hours Per Year or the 326 Kilowatt Hours per 100 cycles quoted elsewhere in this guide. And the listing shows a 4.4 rating from 61 ratings, while the rating breakdown on the same page adds up to 100 (7 one-star, 3 two-star, 5 three-star, 16 four-star and 69 five-star). Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for this model, not from any testing we carried out.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

“Very pleased as it's very quiet - I like the feature of auto weight detector with an estimated time for the program to be done depending on the amount in the drum. Drying large items such as duvets, I found the auto program not accurate, and needed more time to dry completely, but just clothes on its own is perfect on the complete cycle. On EcoSave mode (5kg max washing & drying) took approx 6 hours. Can cut by approx 1-2hrs by turning up the power mode. No wifi, but the machine switches off automatically, approx 5mins after program completed, so in theory it can be left alone as it will take care of itself - I would not leave unattended unless just on washing mode. AEG seems reliable with 2 years guarantee.”

“Really pleased with this washer dryer so far. It replaced an older machine and the first thing I noticed was how much quieter it is during both washing and spinning. It is a big improvement compared to what I had before. The steam function is a great addition. Clothes come out feeling much fresher and it definitely helps reduce creasing on things like shirts and bedding. I did not expect to use it as much as I do but it has turned out to be one of the most useful features.Loads run smoothly and the dryer works well without taking too long.Overall I cannot complain. It washes and dries well, runs quietly, and has some genuinely useful features. Very happy with it so far.”
