The Hangsun HOC700 is number one in this guide, and it is one of the cheapest models on it: £24.99, 4.3 out of 5 from 29,039 ratings. Only one other flosser here carries more ratings, and that one costs less again. What the listing describes is a cordless, rechargeable unit with a 300ml detachable tank, three pressure modes (Normal, Soft and Pulse), six colour-coded jet tips including an orthodontic tip for brace wearers and a periodontal tip, IPX7 waterproofing, a four-hour charge time and a 36-month warranty.

The number worth stopping on is the tank. Hangsun states 300ml and claims "a full, uninterrupted flossing session in one fill", but the listing never says how many seconds that is. The £35.99 Waterpik Pulse elsewhere in this guide does give both figures — a 450ml reservoir and "up to 45 seconds of flossing time" — so the largest tank on the page is empty in three-quarters of a minute, while the Hangsun's 300ml cannot be converted into minutes from anything its own listing says. The rating breakdown adds to 100: 63 five-star, 20 four-star, 8 three-star, 3 two-star and 6 one-star. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing, not from testing we have carried out.

What buyers actually say

“This Hangsun water flosser has been a real game changer for me. My dental hygienist recommended using a water flosser, but until now, I'd only really come across the larger countertop versions.I love how compact and portable this one is. The water tank holds just the right amount for a single use, it's rechargeable, straightforward to use and does a really effective job. My teeth feel wonderfully clean afterwards—almost like that fresh-from-the-dentist feeling!I honestly never thought I'd say this, but I actually look forward to flossing now. I've been so pleased with it that I've even bought three more as gifts!”

“First time using a water flosser & must admit I'm very impressed. It's so easy to navigate this little device. Charge it for 4 hours and it's good to go for quite some time. The pressure is very high so start off with soft if you're new to it. First time I used this I nearly flooded my bathroom so it does take a bit of finesse but you get the hang of it after a few times. The tank gives you about 30 60 seconds depending on the mode you're on. Overall great product and would highly recommend.”
