Rank #6 in Best Espresso Machine 2026: 10 Ranked, and Why 20 Bar Is the Wrong Number
CASABREWS CM5418 Espresso Machine, 20 Bar, 1350W, Pressure Gauge, PID
Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.
The CM5418 is the value pick of this ranking, and the listing stacks up features normally found further up the price ladder: a 20 bar pump, a 1350W thermoblock heating system for fast warm-up, PID intelligent temperature control, a pressure gauge, a steam wand and a cup warmer, in a compact stainless steel body with a removable water tank.
PID control is the meaningful one. On cheaper machines the brew temperature drifts with each shot; PID holds it steady, which is what makes a repeatable espresso possible rather than a lottery. A pressure gauge does the same job visibly. At the time of collection it carried 964 ratings at 4.4 stars. Everything here comes from the Amazon listing rather than our own testing.
How those 964 ratings break down
An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.4 stars.

What buyers actually say
Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon
Verified purchase“I’ve been using the Casabrews CM5418 daily for about 2–3 weeks to make espresso and milk drinks (mainly cappuccinos and lattes). I bought it as a step up from pod coffee, and overall it delivers solid results for the price, especially if you’re willing to learn a bit.Setup & ease of use:Setup was quick (around 15–20 minutes) and the machine is ready to use within about a minute of switching on. The compact size is a big plus — it fits easily on a standard kitchen counter without taking up much space. Controls are simple and straightforward with single/double shot options.Coffee quality:Espresso quality is surprisingly good once dialled in. With fresh beans and a medium-fine grind, it produces a decent crema and a strong, smooth shot. It’s not café-level, but it is clearly a step above pod machines and instant coffee. Consistency is good once you find the right grind setting.Milk frothing:The steam wand works well but has a learning curve. It can produce decent foam for cappuccinos and usable microfoam for lattes, but it’s not very powerful compared to higher-end machines. Beginners may need a bit of practice to avoid large bubbles.Everyday use:Noise is typical for a pump machine and not overly disruptive. Cleaning is fairly simple, although the steam wand needs wiping immediately after use.Downsides:* Mostly plastic build (feels budget but not fragile)* Steam wand takes practice* Included accessories are basic* Not ideal if you want full barista controlVerdict:A very good entry-level espresso machine. Best suited for someone moving on from pod coffee who wants proper espresso at home without spending £300–£700+. It won’t replace a café machine, but for daily home use it’s excellent value once you learn how to dial it in.”
Verified purchase“I’ve had this Casabrews machine on my kitchen counter for a year and a half now, and it’s been brilliant as a daily driver. If you don't have a massive kitchen, the size is a huge plus. It takes up very little room on my kitchen counter, but performance-wise it really punches above its weight.A few thoughts after 18 months of daily use:- Durability & Build: The materials feel surprisingly solid for the price point, and it’s proven to be a proper workhorse. It warms up quickly and hasn't given me a single issue in the last 18 months I've owned it.- No Leakage: Everything seals tightly. Provided you lock the portafilter in properly and clean the group head and descale regularly, you won't get any messy drips or leaks around the basket.- Coffee Taste: Out of the box, it brews a really good, rich espresso. I’ve recently bought a casabrews bottomless portafilter to dial in my shots even more, and being able to fine tune the grind has taken the taste to another level.- Steam Wand: Surprisingly powerful for a compact machine at this price point. It's a good size and angle, so it's easy to get nice, silky microfoam for flat whites once you get the technique down.Overall, if you want proper espresso at home without sacrificing half your counter space or spending a fortune, you can't go wrong with this.”
