EXPERLAM's wooden hamster cage took fourth place in our guide to the best hamster cages. It is a 100 x 40 x 50 cm wooden enclosure with an openable mesh top and clear acrylic viewing panels, priced at £84.99 and rated 4.2 out of 5 from 23 ratings on Amazon.
The number that matters most here is the one the listing does not give. 'Large' and 'Extra Large' are doing no work across this category: the Rosewood Pico is sold as Extra Large at 50 x 36 cm, roughly 0.18 m² of floor, and the BUCATSTATE 3.0 states 0.5 m² outright for its 100 x 50 cm model. EXPERLAM prints 100 x 40 x 50 cm and a 50 cm height, says that height "supports deeper bedding setups", then names no bedding depth at all — BUCATSTATE names up to 24 cm. By our arithmetic, 100 x 40 cm comes to 0.4 m² of floor, which lands between those two. Two further fields are worth reading with care: the breed list covers guinea pigs and small rabbits alongside hamsters, and the same table carries a "Dog Breed Size: Small" entry. The top front opens fully (top back is fixed) which makes it easy to feed and interact with your hamster. This is helpful when cleaning it too. I also have a Niteangel Bigger World and a Bucatstate enclosures for my other pets - they are great, slightly bigger at 50cm wide which is why I got this one as needed something to sit on top of a sideboard. The quality of this one is comparable, and given the much lower price, it offers great value. I have one very happy hamster 🥰”
