Price and rating as shown on Amazon when we collected them. Both change.

The Acer Predator GM7000 Heatsink 1TB is a PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 solid state drive with a DRAM cache and a metal heatsink built into the module, priced at £186.69 and rated 4.6 from 143 ratings on its Amazon listing. It sits sixth in this guide. Its relevance here is the opposite of the two drives above it: the console takes a PCIe 4.0 drive, and this is a PCIe 4.0 drive, so none of its quoted bandwidth is thrown away on an interface the PS5 does not have.

The numbers on its own page do not agree with each other, though. The first bullet and the Read Speed field both claim up to 7,400 MB/s, while the Data Transfer Rate field in the same listing says 7,200 MB/s, with no explanation of which figure applies. The price is the other thing worth stopping on: £186.69 is more than the £179.99 quoted for the PCIe 5.0 drive in this guide, so you are paying a premium over a Gen5 part to get a Gen4 one. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing as it is written, not from any test of our own.

What buyers actually say

Quoted from customer reviews on Amazon

“This is an excellent product. Speed is super fast. Transferred 800gb of games from my ps5 to the drive took about 4 minutes. Played games from the drive on the ps5, smooth game play no lag or disturbance. Build quality of the drive is high. I did a lot of research on which to get for extra storage, this came out on top under the 150£ range for 1TB. I was contemplating getting the western digital ps5 ssd but as they no longer make it there wasn't any support for it hence was seeking an alternative. This drive was cheaper a few months ago but due to namely shortage prices for all ssds have shot up, this one is deffo worth your money.”

“Great bit of kit that I brought to upgrade my PS5. Slide straight in easily, fitting in the space underneath with no problems. Worked first time with no compatibility issues and after several months still working fine. Games move across quickly meaning a lot more space for games on the console.”

Questions people ask

Is the Acer Predator GM7000 compatible with the PS5?

The listing names Sony PlayStation 5 under compatible video game console models and lists Gaming Console under compatible devices, and it is a PCIe 4.0 drive, the interface the console uses. Two buyers describe fitting it to a PS5 and it working first time.

What read speed does the Acer Predator GM7000 Heatsink 1TB run at?

The listing gives two answers. The first bullet and the Read Speed field say up to 7,400 MB/s; the Data Transfer Rate field says 7,200 MB/s. Nothing in the listing explains the difference, so treat the headline figure as the one Acer markets rather than the one its own table repeats.

Does the Acer Predator GM7000 come with a heatsink?

Yes. The model number is GM7000HS-1TB and the listing describes a metal heatsink with a custom-designed heat dissipation armor that it says reduces operating temperatures by up to 25%. It is a single unit, so there is no separate heatsink to buy or fit.

Does the Acer Predator GM7000 have a DRAM cache?

The listing states 1 GB of cache memory installed and describes DRAM independent cache, with random read and write speeds quoted at up to 1,350K IOPS and 1,150K IOPS.

How much does the Acer Predator GM7000 Heatsink 1TB cost?

The listing price is £186.69. One reviewer refers to choosing it as the best 1TB option under £150, a figure that does not match the £186.69 shown on the page today.

What is in the box with the Acer Predator GM7000?

The box contents field lists only Internal Solide State Drive, spelled that way in the listing. A separate bullet says a licensed copy of Biwin Intelligence True Image software is included for data migration and backup.
