The LaCie 5TB Rugged Mini is the third pick in our guide to 5 TB external hard drives. It is the orange, rubber-sleeved 2.5-inch model, listed at £209.99 with a 4.5 rating from 23,486 ratings, and it is sold on toughness: shock and drop resistance up to 1.2 m in non-operating mode, and pressure resistance up to 1000 kg (2205 lbs).
The spec table is where this listing stops agreeing with itself. The same table that gives Hard Drive Size as 5 TB also lists an Intel processor, a processor speed of 3.4, DDR3 memory, 8 GB of maximum supported memory and a 75 in 'Standing screen display size'. The bullets pull in different directions too: one says no USB Type A is included, another says a USB Micro B to USB C cable is included, and the shock-resistance line appears twice, word for word. Everything on this page comes from the Amazon listing for this drive — its bullets, its spec table and its customer reviews — and not from any test of our own.

An average hides its own shape. This is the spread behind the 4.5 stars.
